Message 1044787 - Posted: 29 Oct 2010, 17:04:39 UTC - in response to Message 1044757.

Looks like a milestone for all the donors for the new seti server...Seems they bought one for Boinc also. Will seti only get 1/2 the server it needs?

No, the "BOINC master database" currently running on jocelyn is the S@H project MySQL database. It contains all the records pertaining to work being done, users, hosts, teams, forum posts, etc. and is required to run the software which BOINC provides to the projects. It is named that way to distinguish it from the "SETI@home science database" and "Astropulse science database" which contain records of the signals found.

The BOINC project runs on different servers, though they are also in the SSL. The only crossover I know of is that a couple of years ago part of S@H was being run on a server loaned by the BOINC project.

The full capabilities of oscar and carolyn (? probably) will be needed by S@H. The only question concerning hardware fund raising is how soon they may need to get drives to populate the extended drive bay to accomodate the growing science database.

Greetings,

Milestone: 3 Weeks

It has been 3 weeks since I last did a WU for SETI on my i7. My Linux PC finished its last one yesterday. My caches are bone dry.

Cannot wait to see the new servers in action! :)

Keep on BOINCing...! :)

Even without crunching SETI for a couple weeks now, I just broke 2M credits :) I guess enough of my pendings cleared out to get me over the hump. I've been gaining a few thousand a day although that has slowed significantly recently.

EDIT: Just under a month from when I broke 1M :D

My one cruncher is currently in the top 20 computers in Seti and Einstein at the same time. It won't last, but it's there for now.
