I just upped the limits from 5(cpu),40(gpu) to 20,160. This was our highest limit last weekend. Oh, and we are trying things out with no total limits at all this time. We'll see how it goes. Yes, we do want to script this up at some point soon.

*cheers*

Just noticed a surge in network traffic & checked my client- new work all queued up to download.

Miracle Script

if [ $complaints < 500 ];then
echo "Haven't had enough, eh?"
exit
else
scheduler_limit=$(($scheduler_limit*2))
echo "There, that ought to hold you a while."
complaints=0

?

Should be something there in the next hour or so...went 3 days without a stats update to play with. It's chewing on one as we speak.

Why not to increase the WU limit in progress from time to time?

1st day the 20 / 160.
2nd day maybe 60 / 480.
3rd day no limit.

That's what they've done after the last couple of outages, that's what they're doing now.

Yes, my 'friend' - I know. But it look like only very small.

It would be well to have so fast as possible enough WUs for the next outage. So at least again 4 days WUs.

If you have a big performance machine this mean at least:
8 thread CPU: 400 normal WUs
1x GTX2xx series GPU: 640 normal WUs

If the machine have 4x GTX2xx series GPUs.. much much more.

If someone have only 56k internet (or slow DSL), how he should DL all this WUs at one day?

During the last outage I had hundreds of DLs backlogged.
And I was not the only one.

So it would be a well idea to let enabled the DL server some hours/one day at the beginning of the 3 day outage.

BTW. Someone know how long our project will have this long outages?

Until December 21, 2012. After that, it won't matter.

you can complain all you want, at least you are getting SOME WU... I've been able to get a MAXIMUM of 2 workunits this week, and simply get

18/07/2010 5:01:03 PM SETI@home Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
18/07/2010 5:01:03 PM SETI@home Message from server: No work sent
18/07/2010 5:01:03 PM SETI@home Message from server: No work is available for Astropulse v5

time to find a new project I guess

PS: at least I eventually managed to get SOME WU last week... but this is just ridiculous

That's clever! Restricting the range of allowed applications in preferences and then complain about too few work.

Gundolf

Especially since there hasn't been any new work for Astropulse v5 for over a year: applications

what I meant by time to find a new project, was that I'd remove seti completely, and just not bother anymore with it, I'd still do rosetta

I don't see how you can tell if he's restricted his allowed applications, that's just a normal message when the scheduler has no work to give out,

Have you checked wether you're got local preferences set on that machine, with a small cache setting? (local preferences over-ride the web preferences)

from as little as he posted, it appears he is just asking for astropulse v5.

He did not show a general "requesting for CPU" or GPU.

My logs always say no astropulse_v5 available too, i don't remember ever seeing a message saying no seti_enhanced work available,

Claggy

Edit: his machine's up to 3 Seti_enhanced 6.03 tasks now, but hasn't asked for any more work in the last half hour.
