Yesterday I was getting new tasks for both of my computers. Welll the downloads would not download and the BOINC program itself wouldn't switch from an ACTIVE download (with problems) to going in to "Project Backoff" mode when there are downloading issues. I would actually have to sit there and within BOINC click the "activity" menu in the toolbar and switch the newtwork communication on and off just to get between 1kB-5kB downloads.

Odd thing was that 20 mins into me ddoing this all the tasks named 18no09aj... started to download normally, while the rest were timing out.

AAny clue to what this is?
Thanks!
Bill

Hi Bill.
Yes, the network was really, really busy then. Everyone was loading up for the outage going on now. It was just very hard to get to the servers.

PS: It would have been better to ask about this in the number crunching forum, this forum is mostly just for fun.

Still doesn't explain why the 18noaj....tasks were downloading normally while the others sat there.
I'll move this post over forums.
