There were so many toys thrown out of the window it wasn't easy to get into the forum!

Work flowing again...
I've been saying for a long time that huge caches stress the server resources too much by having to keep track of many millions of statuses, and can't be put to bed until all have reached quorum.
Milky Way has a just-in-time approach with a task limit of 24 tasks, or an hour's worth of cache on this ATI 5850!
Any idea when a gpgpu versions of the apps are ready?

How many of those VLARs do you have on those machines? There is a total limit of 140 WUs per machine no matter how many CPUs and GPUs you have right now.

one has 175 the other has 306.
Guess I won't be getting any work for this week!

And only because I accepted the VLAR's to run on the CPU's, the most efficient way to deal with them.

Guess I could abort a lot of them but I won't do that............

On monday i assume again, they'll remove the limit so we can try fill our caches.

Yes but I usually can't get through until the level drops to about 80 on the cricket graph. Until then I'm wasting my time trying.

I see what you mean. Also no GPU work for you until the CPU work lowers below 140.

Kind of sucky. The max limit should apply to each type of application also.

But if you rescheduled them from the GPU, the server still see them as assigned to your GPU.

That could be my problem, except Boinc wont request new GPUs, so I don't get the limit message.

I thought the prime function of the Boinc system was to NOT allow any resources to go unused. GPU's available!!

Then sign up for another project. BOINC is very good at that.

If each "lot's" is 140 or more, that's what Jeff was planning to set for the total per host, so you'll have to await some increase in the limit or working "in progress" down below that level. Even then you may be limited because most of those VLARs were sent for GPU processing, you'll need to get the count of those below 80 on each host to be below the GPU limit since each host has 2 GPUs.

Any Ghost WUs shown in the task lists probably do not affect the limits. AFAICT the limit logic does not do a database query to find out how many are in progress (that would be expensive like the "resend lost work" feature). So it is based on information in the request, IOW the work the host does know about.

My computers do a VLAR wu in just over 2 hours each. My calculations make that about 45 per day for each computer. so 2 of my computers will just come under the limit by Monday and the other 2 will be doomed to crunch only VLAR on hand until next Friday.

The limit will get removed on Monday remember, with any luck hopefully you can get some new work this time. :(

It's too bad you can't move a VLAR back to the GPU. I can crunch them in 45 minutes on my GPU, and 1:05 on my CPU.

I run them in about 35-45 on my GPU and 2 hours+ on my CPU. :(

I hope so but in reality I have a very hard time getting through to get work when the cricket graph is up at 90 or more. Usually have to wait until it gets down to 80 or so. So I am not hopeful.

The only machine that crunched all the way through the outage uploaded all its tasks but when it requesting new tasks it gets the message "This computer has reached a limit of tasks in progress" so it looks like it won't even get the new 5 tasks per cpu and 40 per gpu quota. Tbag is in deep sulk but has 493 vlars to keep me company ;-)

It was not to be.

I have one rig without any Cuda tasks......

It is being told it has enough to do.

Guess we all need a little Water Of Love......

Meow.......

Sometime love just ain't enough...
Come carry that water of love to me.

If I don't get some water soon....

High and dry in the long hot day
Lost and lonely every way
Got the flats all around me sky up above
Yes I need a little water of love

I've been too long lonely and my heart feels pain
Crying out for some soothing rain

I believe I have taken enough
Yes I need a little water of love

Water of love deep in the ground
But there ain't no water here to be found
Some day baby when the river runs free
It's gonna carry that water of love to me

There's a bird up in tree sitting up high
Just waiting for me to die
If I don't get some water soon
I'll be dead and gone in the afternoon

Water of love deep in the ground
But there ain't no water here to be found
Some day baby when the river runs free
It's gonna carry that water of love to me

Once I had a woman I could call my own
Once I had a woman now woman is gone
Once there was a river now there's a stone
You know it's evil when you're living alone

Water of love deep in the ground
But there ain't no water here to be found
Some day baby when the river runs free
It's gonna carry that water of love to me carry that

Water of love deep in the ground
But there ain't no water here to be found
Some day baby when the river runs free
It's gonna carry that water of love to me
