And with a Q6600, it should be much colder. Maybe add better case cooling (fans)? Or an other place for the radiator? The system is a stock Q6600 with a stock EVGA GTS250. The H50 is a closed loop cooling system. Normally the system sits about 58C idle and 60-62C when crunching. The GTS250 is normally at 56C idle and 60-65C crunching. The H50 is working nomally. As noted in other posts of this nature, the machine resides in a second floor room that is on the wrong side of the house. This room has no a/c and is cooled with only a ceiling fan (on max) and a window fan. Taking all of this in account when facing ambient temps of 100+ (dry or wet), the cooler is working overtime because EXTREMELY HOT air is being blown across the cooling radiator (push/pull); and the system does not have a chance to cool down. When temps are below 90F, this is not a problem. I keep an eye on the vcard and when it approaches 70, I put is in snooze mode for a while to cool it. Right now at 08:32 its 86, never got below 81 overnite, processor is at 67C (147F) and the vcard at 57C (134F). Temps for today are forecast at 102-103F with the index approching 106. When finances improve, currently unemployed for 15 months, I will be investing in a COOLER MASTER HAF932. Until then, donations will be gladly accepted [sic]. I don't buy computers, I build them!! Anything over 68F (20C) and not raining is regarded as a heat wave and encourages the locals to wear the minimum of clothing, and think they need cooling with many pints of lager. I have a couple on 2 of my Q9450 systems, but I replaced the fans they came with with a pair of Kaze slipstream 110cfm fans in push-pull configuration (4 fans for 2 coolers), they're push/pulling air into the case. My stock speed systems in ~80F rooms run between 44 and 50C, one with 2 HD 5830s in it that are nicely heating up the rest of the case (P180B) ... A worthwhile $20 to get the most out of the cooler, IMO. Might be something worth looking into for your system. Also, if you're pulling air in from the outside, like I am, you might find it necessary to take the unit out every now and then and clean it... mine gets nice little mats of dust between the fan and radiator, removing the mat usually gets me a 5 degrees or so extra. -Dave ID: 1013278 ·

It's a shrieker... ;) the noisiest fan I have right now is a Delta 120x38mm @ about 130cfm(47dba or so), It's far less noisy than the 80mm fan there, but still It's about as loud as I can tolerate. I picked up a couple of these last week when they were on sale for $4.99ea The box says they are 69 cfm, web site says 90 cfm. 2k rpm and 19 dba, that should be almost silent. Compared to everything else... I haven't installed them yet. Will probably use them to replace the current fans on top of my CM690 case to pull the warm air up and out... Martin ID: 1013308 ·

Core 0 and Core 1 temps are, according to SpeedFan, 45C and 44C respectively, with a system temp of 34C. I'm still running the E6550 at 2.66GHz, rather than the standard 2.33GHz....this weather could be the first real test the Scythe Ninja 2 has had. I wish they made chipset coolers! There again, I suspect the Silicon will take a bit more heat than the Biological unit will, before complaints are made known. lol Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive!
