Any body know what this means, the only cpu tasks I have left are for Seti Beta.

Note that host asking for ATI GPU work, it has ZERO such tasks in progress now....

It was there before the last 10 minutes, my friend.
When the server has no work to send, it does not progress to the messages saying you have reached your 'quota' or this new BS.

Only when you reach the server and it has some work to send you does it tell you that you cannot have any.

This makes sense in a weird way..
After the outage and the massive upload of workunits, Im guessing that we will need to wait for some of them to be validated before we can have some more??

AFAIK, nothing to do with it.
There is work ready to send.
Boinc is telling specific hosts that they cannot have any work.

Don't think validation is the problem, a lot of the tasks I returned have validated already.

And my other computer has received work.

and the funny part is..

right after I get this, I get two or three "no Tasks available" messages, then another "limit" message.

Makes no sense, at this time...

Agree, but only when there is some tasks to process indeed.
In my case there is zero such tasks. That is, limit calculating for both CPU and GPU work together, such approach looks like bug for me. It's ok to limit stored work in MW-style, but at least 1 task per computing device should be allowed IMO.

WinterKnight,

Let me guess, it's the quad-core (with the GTX240) that's not getting work i.e. you are getting the "Message from server: This computer has reached a limit on tasks in progress' message...

I have a BAD feeling about this...

Could be the start of a new quota system.

Similar sort of message to those you receive form both GPUGRID and Aqua@Home. Both have a quota set to host Spec.

02/07/2010 18:11:59 GPUGRID Message from server: (reached limit of 2 GPU tasks in progress).

Edit Only have one GPU card.

You're right again, the lucky Pent M always gets work. I cannot remember when it has never had work. On time during an outage it was at 97% of the way through it's last task when the project came back up and it got work on it's first request.

One of the things that you miss if you only crunch for one project is seeing all the weird and wonderful controls and settings that exist on BOINC servers. Some projects use them, others don't. But they've been available for years: don't blame this one on DA, or anybody else, loading stealth code during the outage.

AQUA has a limit of two tasks per host. Note, not per core - per host. But then, their tasks run on all cores simultaneously.

GPUGris has a limit of two tasks per GPU.

Both those projects would like to get their science back in quickly, please. They also have relatively long tasks, which helps.

Here, I expect the SETI staff have decided to spread the load - and the goodies - around a bit. Let everybody have a little to start with, see how you like it, come back for afters when your plate's clean. Seems like a plan to me: and I'm certainly not going to pass judgement while we've still only been on twin-bore downloads for about an hour.

Better not be, I amd not going to run a computer that can only get gpu tasks and leave the cpu, which uses more electricity, sucking air.

If I understand Mark's comment.....

Respectfully, I would wonder why the server download queue is even in play if the host is truly being "blocked"...you should get a Limit message, until the conditions for the limit are no longer met...

Just my 1/2 peso...

Martin

Keep crunching, if possible...

If Dr A hadn't got his coding so miserably wrong and the estimates were correct, my quad with gpu actually needs gpu tasks also.
It has not asked or received any gpu tasks today, but the true amount of work 'in progress' for the gpu is less than 1.5 days, half my expected cache.
