Well, I believe it will run in such way:

Day 1: Project is down, no upload or download
Day 2: Project is down, no upload or download
Day 3: Project is down, no upload or download
Day 4: The Gates are open, 175,000 User with 270,000 Hosts (and 50,000,000 Results) try to upload their results and fill their Caches
Day 5: The Line is slow because 175,000 User with 270,000 Hosts (and 45,000,000 Results) try to upload their results and fill their Caches
Day 6: Something crashes on serversite 175,000 User with 270,000 Hosts (and 45,000,000 Results) cannot upload their results or fill their Caches
Day 7: Staff in Lab, asks themselves if they should repair the system now - or tomorow because --> go to Day 1.

hehe :-)

Helli

LOL....
Helli, you are elaborating on the scenario I worried about in my first post when I started this thread.....
"I can see the worst case.....
Outage Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday....
Come back up on Friday....bandwidth maxed out with rigs trying to report 3 days worth of work and trying to replenish depleted caches....
Servers crash Saturday, nothing available until Monday morning...bandwidth maxed out again.

Lather, rinse, repeat."

The hope is that they will have had enough time to sort things on the servers somewhat and they may come back up in a healthier state than when the outage started.

I have my doubts, but I have told all of the kitties to wear their ruby slippers tonight and tomorrow.

Y'all are forgetting something.....

It's a holiday weekend in the US.

Holiday weekends are bad juju for S@H servers. Get out the beads, dolls, Gris Gris Bags, Potion Oils, Candles & Ritual Kits....

Yes, reads itself funny. But it isn't. I believe i will not able to download 4,000 Workunits to refill my Cache
because i have to upload my Results first, and the Splitters will not be fast enough to handle the massive requests.

Helli

i was really hoping they where not going to take down the upload server for that very reason. the slow machines who get all the work.

a 3 day outage every week will only encourage people to run deeper queues ... now weren't people complaining about that before ...

i have 1 box dry already and another one about to go dry ... get ready for the *&^% fight that's about to happen for WUs and bandwidth ... and lets not forget about wu limiting ... more WUs further out means that peoples daily limits are going to fall ... i can hear the screams now ...

prediction: this is going to turn into a really big ugly mess....

Unknown, As the other planets are being really quiet and Jupiter is singing in code. :D

As to cache I have a 7 day cache, But then I didn't think 10 was needed.

The funny part is that things will work themselves out. Users will adjust and WU's will get to You and Results will be returned.

my interpretation:

users will quit, maybe not to me and clearly not as many.

Ill sign that one. I'm here for the storm, a few outages won't hurt me. Each outage so far i've managed to get a cache big enough to get me through it.
