Whew! I'd have the AC on with that temp whether I was crunching or not! That's even a bit too warm for my snakes. :) It's either the AC or sleeping in a lake of perspiration.

It has been such a cool spring in Vancouver that I haven't had to throttle things back at all yet. This time last year, I was only crunching 12hr per day.

In the middle of the third heatwave of the summer, which I understand is rare for this time of year in Philly. I installed a Corsair Hydro H50 cooler this spring with which I have been very satisfied with the results. Running Win 7 Pro (64-bit) on an Intel Q6600 Core 2 Quad, and an EVGA GTS250 with the fan running at 81%. CPUID Hardware Monitor has been up 24/7 since the first heat wave and I am pleased to report that the CPU has not gone above 71c(158F). With the video card fan running at 81% it have not gotten above 72c (161F).

All of this in a 2nd story room on the wrong side of the house (no breeze), no a/c, two windows open with a fan in one and a ceiling fan. AND the machine running 24/7. With the last deadline in the queue being 30 July with most of it being CUDA, I have set the machine to not get any new tasks for a while, so that the moaners & groaners can get their fix when the up/down servers are re-ignited.

Not as hot here but it's still hot enough to keep my room toasty at 82F

When I'm not crunching it's a bit lower.

I've quit crunching SETI now and not because of the recent ups and downs.

My pending shows me hitting the 100K mark and I'm concentrating on hitting that with WCG.

In the meantime for the summer, I'm quitting crunching until the weather cools so I can bear to be in the same room as the computer I'm working on.

I'm near Houston and the daily heat index is over 100F... I've considered turning on some A/C, but it's not even July yet... let alone August :)

I'm a firm believer in acclimatizing... Long stays in libraries or supermarkets chill me to the bone and I can't wait to get back outside and into the heat.

To each their own :)

It's noon and 25C, by 17:00 hours, it'll be 30C (outside)
By then the ATI crucher goes off, PSU trottles and eventually stops, like it did yesterday. (Also have to reseat the CPU-cooler since it gets to 94C and Mobo 55C, ATI cards at 88C (5770) and 4850 80C.)
AC is set @ 26C. (Quite noisy), whether forecast predict a HeatWave for the coming week(s).......
(Even in Moscow, it's >30C)
And AC just kicked in.
I gonna do a rain-dance . . .
Even my 'production' is decreasing...., EINSTEIN made full advantage of that, did got work from LHC and to much others ;-)

26C here. Had to stop crunching SETI on CPU as it was getting way to hot. GPU still plodding along nicely though. Running climate prediction.net on CPU as it runs cooler.

In the room where the two PCs are crunching away, the room temp is about 27C. The 'aspect' of the house is such that, even if there was a hurricane, I'd not get so much as a light breeze in this room! My main PC is running an OC of about 15% on a 2.33GHz E6550; according to SpeedFan, core temps are 40C and 41C and the system temp is 36C....the Scythe Ninja 2 is doing a pretty good job, I'd say.

Update:

Start of another wave in Philly town. Heat index expected to get above 37C (100F) today. CPU temp still has not gotten above 72C, but I did have to bump up the fan on the GTS250 to 91% to keep the max temp at 72C. This high temp is only reached when the GPU is crunching. Also turned new tasks back on to get my queue filled before the shutdown. Still crunching on Docking & Milkyway.

Those of you that are having a problem with CPU temps is this hot weather, may I suggest that your research the H50. Smartest investment that I have made in quite a while. It will fit 775, 1156, 1366 and some AMD MBs. If anyone is interested in an Ultra-120 eXtreme-1366 cooler, new but never used, give me a pm and we'll talk about it.

Similar temps over here - 27C - but the 4 crunchers are working OK (both GPU and CPU) with a 480mm fan blowing full out on the front of their cases.

The CPUs are running @ 86C - according to Speedfan, and the GPU at 78C.
It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues

Last week was pretty rough here. 97-99F for actual, 110-118F heat index. Hooray saltwater humidity! [/sarcasm] A/C managed to hold 74F indoors, even with crunching.

Lets see It's 88°F(31°C), Humidity: 22% outside and 74°F(23°C), Humidity: 80% inside thanks to the Swamp Cooler which is set on low currently and the remote is in My pocket. :D

Oh and the predicted high temp is supposed to be 104°F(40°C) here in Yermo.

I'm in the hottest room in our house for just a little longer but my H50 keeps my CPU's in low 50's. I really didn't expect to have it too long but it seemed the best available local and I wanted to get my machine running but forgot to order fan....Well anyway I have been really happy with it and it is mounted outside the case on the side so I can easily see when it needs a bit of cat hair cleaning. I also built a bracket out of an old PS frame and installed my PS outside my case but in same general location it would have been so no added hear in box from 1300 Watt PS. This machine will be fine all summer with my overclocks intact. Getting work may be another story...

What type of cpu do You have hiamps? a dual or a single? My H50 needed two Delta fans(129/113cfm) in push pull just to keep the temps in the 80's on My Quad core... I'm just using a Corsair 850w psu.

I7 920 just run it on 4 cores HT off.

EDIT: I have it running @ 3780mhz from 2.67mhz.

inbetween working on other peoples computers...
i'm going thru mine and dusting them out...
nobody sells the high output 80mm thermaltake fans
anymore..
the fans that would cause temporary deafness in one minute.
but they would keep your cpu cool....
