I am very sad to say that I am finished with this crap.
DA has put the final nail in the coffin.

Just shy of 10 years hence.

I just don't have the stamina for it anymore. Even the kitties are getting older.

Invested thousands of dollars over the last few years. And for what? I can't now even carry on what I bought the hardware for.

Such are the things of hopes and dreams. I should have known better. Maybe I can play solitaire at 4.1 Ghz.....

I give it about 3 more days. Then it's goodbye for me.

My hope and Eric's dream.

You all carry on now.

I gotta get my eyes fixed.

Well that is sad after 10yrs, but why not just install the latest standard app on those pc's with no work until they get things sorted out and once that's sorted then reinstall the optimized app?

It's what I'm doing now.

Thanks.......but no thank you.

Have done countless reworks and plinks to get around programming faults.

This is the last straw. The one that broke the kitties' back.

Eric knows about it. But apparently he has no power to control the Boinc masters.

I just am done here.

Either this starts working right or I am gone.

Simple deal.

That would be a huge loss for all of us.

Well it would be a sad day to say goodbye to you and the kittys if you leave i hope you stay!
I am relatively new to this but i did the same once i got the bug went and bought some nice hardware and some fussy fermi's. I only use the stock 6.10.56 and resched thats it no more edit app_info for me lol, but yeah its a bit frustrating not being able to use some super kit but youve been here through the good and bad times would be a shame to leave now.
Think of it this way, if you had been playing the same lottery numbers for 10 years and you stopped, how would you feel if the jackpot went on those numbers afterwards?
Of course in this case the jackpot would be a signal but the time and effort youve put in deserves a personal call from ET themselves.

Not as loss as large as it will be for me, my friend.

It's crap..

We're all out of work.. Well i don't think this would be fixed until Tuesday at first.

Gonna drink some beers and attend a festival instead of looking at the s@h screens which get me/us depressed.

Mark. Stay put. And chill until next week my friend.

Wish you a nice weekend over in the US from Sweden...

Kind regards Vyper

Funny thing is..........
Nobody will notice I am gone for a few days.

Then it will hit them.

Like Les Paul said...........

It was on your damned guitar.......
Like so many other legends that have come and gone..............

Done dealing with it.

Detaching all hosts now.

Eyh

What do you mean? , why is strange to hear from me? :)

I'm around here in the forums in the background reading what people write
and so forth..

But until a proper solution is found i tend not to get so upset even if
i'm almost in the same position as you but i don't sport the "green star" sir.

When a diehard cruncher just like i tend to give up on the project i need to get in and send a "hello, i see you message" ..

After all we're all in the same boat, and if i haven't given up yet i don't wan't anybody else though you're only my virtual friend (stats foe) in this mad hobby..

So there you have it friend..

Pledging you to stay and feel that even if S@H is crappy for the moment you as an individual are not!
So take this oppertunity to go to the backside of your house with a baden baden and some beer knowing that everybody is in the same boat and is as eager as you to get some work to do so we all s@h nerds can stare at the stats screen to see the credit go upwards.

Because as it is for the moment the only direction it points is down as the stock market was in year 2008!

Trying to lighten up and so forth..

Regards Vyper

Hey

Just for reference, could you post your app_info.xml here just to see if others as perhaps i has a "faulty" app_info file?

Nice..

Kind regards Vyper

Ahh, sorry i forgot about that fact too.

Well beeing is far more worth than crunching, hobby and addiction as something
you have the luxury to do when your health and functions is ok.

If the health or other related things starts to take a toll how fun is your hobby, money, addiction and such..

So what i meant to say is if you need to drop crunching to afford beeing healthy and fit this is the right way to go.
No one thanks you enough for shelling out that much cash in hardware, electricity and funding at a hobby basis..

You as an individual comes first Mark..

Regards Vyper

Mark..................

If the kitties are uninjured and don't have problems then the problems are at the Berkeley side. Nothing you can do about that.

Couple of 6-packs, tv on, watch a movie and chill for a while.

Everyone is having the same problems as you, no need to panic.

There appears to be an impending mass-exodus from FreeHal...... and an apparently AWOL project manager.

Consternation is quite high at the moment.

I didn't like freehal so I gave up on that a long time ago. There was a minor exodus from DNETC when folks found out that they were involuntarily added to the DNETC team on distributed.net This team is created by the founders of DNETC. The problem lies in the cash award that they basically are awarding to themselves. They then warned people that any complaints would end in people losing their earned Credits. That was enough for me to bail on them.

Also considering it was likely to take 40-80 years to find the key I though better of wasting it there

Skildude: It also seems that Collatz has hit some type of wall in their connection and GPUgrid does NOT like my GPU's.

Aqua seems to be the only project still running for me.

If you want a nice reliable second project, consider World Community Grid. A quick look around their Forums shows you how boring life can be when IBM runs the day to day part of distributing and collecting work.
