I think Bill called it. This photo of a Dassault Falcon is not quite the same angle but it appears to have the features of the crashed plane, including the tiny nose wheel. Think I agree http://www.airliners.net/photo/Norway---Air/Dassault-Falcon-(Mystere)/0515458/L/ Caption: Tweety: 1 Putty Tat, 2 That's not a putty tat!

At the risk of being labelled an airplane nerd (which I am) and of being warned about off-topic posts (it is): The original photo is a Falcon 20, c.1970s vintage. I think the grey paint threw off some people. Several Falcon 20s continue in use with smaller air forces as ECM trainers, this looks to be one of them (note the added antenna on the lower fuselage). I believe it is from the Norwegian AF. Steven M.'s photo link is a current production and much larger Falcon 7 or 7X, but the family resemblance is there.

...I'm wondering if that landing gear isnt just photoshopped... Perhaps the whole thing was PhotoShopped. I think Bill called it. It appears that this plane had a bit of a front wheel strut malfunction. See what appears to be steel tubing on the ground behind the front wheel. Please check the name of the PIC. its called B1bommerintruck. though the poster may have been mistaken and assumed it was a B1B. I cannot think of any other nato plane that has that shape and size. Perhaps a smaller service jet. I've checked several websites for any plane with that window/landing gear to no avail. I'm wondering if that landing gear isnt just photoshopped. They appear to small for a ship of that size. Using the B1B pic oyu provided the wheels/tires appear to be around 32-36 inches high. The mercedes Truck would have a similar sized tire if the Door size is used as a rough estimate for a humans height. From that we can see that the front tires on that plane are about 12 inches. thats not very big for a plane that appears to be quite large In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Both Carlos & skildude had said that was a B-1B in the caption pic; I disagree.... THIS is a B-1B: The one in the caption pic is too small to be one of these, but I don't reognize the type of aircraft from just the nose shot. |

While we wait for Miep, that picture reminds me of another similar incident. At the air-show for the 50 anniversary of the Air Force at Nellis AFB, a driver of a Pepsi delivery truck enjoyed the show and a lot of beer. Came time for him to leave at the end of the day, he found out his truck didn't fit underneath the wing of a B1B Lancer. At the time this aircraft was part of the US Strategic Forces. His arrest by a bunch of M-16 toting MP's came as a wake up call. He later was turned over to the NHP. IIRC I was told it would cost over $1 million to do the x-rays of the sweep wing joints to find the damage. Don't know what the replacement parts ran. That is a bit higher than your typical insurance policy would cover. A friend joked that the world wide price of Pepsi was going to be higher. Since there were Pepsi booths all over the air base, I'm sure the base commander pointed to the contract and said pay up! And something tells me that not being sold at every PX and BX might hurt worse over time.

I bet Pepsi has a rule against drinking on duty (especially while driving). If so, they fired the driver, and pointed all responsibility for payment to him... BOINC WIKI |

Well that’s more than 10. Now as I pull myself off of the floor I have to make sense of this. First, I really have to give Michael Roberts honorable mention. He remembered the guy who worked for me who tended to have accidents with heavy equipment. None of you know that he was an Air Force brat. His dad was a full bird and he did get caught playing in a B-52 more than once. So that was very fitting. I would have declare Michael the winner but not everyone knew about my assistant. Ok so based on public knowledge: 2nd Runner up: Julie: Nice parking job man...nice 1st Runner up: Hal: Bomb Ya or Ram Ya, makes no differnce to me - YER TOAST! The winner is our flight instructor: Miep: I repeat: those pedals are not the brakes! Take it away Miep. PM sent. |

I say I say I say -- what's the difference between an aeroplane and a bulldozer? I don't know. What is the difference between an aeroplane and a bulldozer? No idea, but I'm certainly not going to ask that chap who works for Carlos! |
