When in law school I worked part time as a bar tender. We had over 200 beers from around the world in stock. The schools librarian asked for my help with a beer tasting party. I picked 100 different beers and set up the tasting as this house. 1 oz cups. No one made it past 82. |

We have a couple of local microbreweries that make Belgium style beers up to about 14%. Under local laws, you can't call that beer, so they have to market it as "sparkling barley wine". Next time I visit the Netherlands, I am going to have to get the address from you. (It may be a while though). BOINC WIKI |

I've tried all the premium and imported beers but I always come back to Lucky Lager. I do not fight fascists because I think I can win. I fight them because they are fascists. Chris Hedges A riot is the language of the unheard. -Martin Luther King, Jr. |

My favorite was from a little Trapist monastery in Belgium. The entire production typically sold out within about 20Km. BOINC WIKI |

"I don't always drink beer but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis." On behalf of all the older gray-haired beer-swilling men in the world, I wish to protest. Sometimes, some of us are interesting. Sort of. When we can stay awake. |

My favorite was from a little Trapist monastery in Belgium. The entire production typically sold out within about 20Km. I love the Trappist Ales. They are definitly my favorite. The last time I went specialty shopping, I loaded up the cash register counter, and the guy said "You picked out at least 5 of the best beers in the world." A little beer education goes a long way! :) Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. GPUUG Website |

For those of you in the UK, I am enjoying a 6 year old Thomas Hardy Ale at 11.7%, and it is really good! This is the first one I have let set for 5 years to get the best flavor. Normally I can't wait past 5 days, let alone 5 years. Ummmmmmmm! :) Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. GPUUG Website |

I've developed quite a taste for McEwans Champion Ale....thats around 7.2% ABV, and its the closest thing I can get, to The Newcastle Star, which was 7.5% ABV and had a better label. Its very smooth and 'thick' and I've developed this taste over the last 10 years or so (it had to be trialled over a reasonable period). I can only describe it as being similar to Theakston's Old Peculiar, but more of it! Don't mention some of those brews courtesy of Belgian monks, please!!! Its not so much the alcohol content.....its the taste that is over-powering. Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive! |
