During and after WWII a large number of Germans sought haven in south and central America. A relatively large number ended up in Costa Rica. One of the first things they did when they arrived was to set up a brewery. Well, when I was sailing thur I needed to get some fuel for my boat. I only had big bills, so for change the locals agreed to give me several cases of beer. They gave me a beer called Imperial. I am not a big beer fan. There are only a handful that I actually enjoy. This is the top one on my list. If you can find it, you must try it. |

Hey Phud, that Fat Bastard is reasonably good value for the money, unlike most French wines these days. If that is taking up too much room, maybe I can help ... |

The best beer I ever drank is Der Alte Rathaus, served in Der Alte Rathaus in Hannover, I found it while visiting the CETI Exhibition. Tullio |

i don't drink anymore... Too bad you aren't a Brit... "Beer combats heart disease: official Alert PrintExcellent news By Lester Haines • Get more from this author Posted in Science, 6th March 2006 15:00 GMT Free whitepaper – The Register Guide to Enterprise Virtualization More good news for those of you who like a swift pint or two: beer doesn't just fight cancer and make you clever but also blocks "interferon-gamma-induced chemical processes". This is a good thing, trust us, because what the Innsbruck Medical University team behind this revelation has shown - in layman's terms - is that beer offers a resultant anti-inflammatory effect which may have a "beneficial impact on coronary heart diseases"... As strange as this sounds on the surface, my co-workers and I used to go to the Boston Beer Summit. We would get a driver, go down there, and sample everything we could get our hands on. Then our driver would pick us up, and take us back to work where our spouses took us home. The strange thing is that, what is sometimes associated with the general public, was enjoyed, and ravished by some really intelligent individuals. Just about everyone that went was an engineer or IT profesional. At the time I was an engineering technician, but now I'm a software engineer. You can certainly be intelligent and enjoy a nice beer! :) Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. GPUUG Website |

I don't know which beer is the best in Germany. When I read your choice of beer, I knew you were stationed close to where I grew up. When were you stationed there Hiamps? Sorry I had to take a swig, my favorite beer too. Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

We may have crossed path then. My ex was stationed there until 1978. If you were at Sembach we probably did, very small base. I was an Electrician so I went everywhere. Official Abuser of Boinc Buttons... And no good credit hound! |

This is the local beer that you usually get served if no special request is noted. Something typical over here is to serve the beer in a frozen jug/glas. Cheers, folks!! |
