During and after WWII a large number of Germans sought haven in south and central America. A relatively large number ended up in Costa Rica. One of the first things they did when they arrived was to set up a brewery.

Well, when I was sailing thur I needed to get some fuel for my boat. I only had big bills, so for change the locals agreed to give me several cases of beer. They gave me a beer called Imperial. I am not a big beer fan. There are only a handful that I actually enjoy. This is the top one on my list. If you can find it, you must try it.

As strange as this sounds on the surface, my co-workers and I used to go to the Boston Beer Summit. We would get a driver, go down there, and sample everything we could get our hands on. Then our driver would pick us up, and take us back to work where our spouses took us home. The strange thing is that, what is sometimes associated with the general public, was enjoyed, and ravished by some really intelligent individuals. Just about everyone that went was an engineer or IT profesional. At the time I was an engineering technician, but now I'm a software engineer. You can certainly be intelligent and enjoy a nice beer! :)

I miss Germany...I was there from 1977 - 1979 keep promising myself to make it back. Beautiful area and awesome people, knew many locals.
