BOINC FAQ answers this is probably not going to be fun for you to diagnose In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Well iv read that through and i have up to date drivers and Dx, it was overclocked and i had no problems with other CUDA projects. What i did was i rolled back to the BOINC now available for download and it is working but as a precaution iv set the GPU back to default clocks. Thanks skildude :) Scorpions - Wind Of Change |

Hey there guys! Total GPU memory 255393792 free GPU memory 157839360 There's too little free memory. The minimum required with the 2.2 drivers was about 220 MB, there are indications the 2.3 drivers require even more. With only 256 MB installed you'll have to reduce the amount Windows 7 is using as much as possible. If you turn off all fancy effects, reduce screen resolution and maybe color depth, then you can probably do optimized CUDA work with that 8600GT. Joe |

The memory issue is with the 197.13-.25 drivers. When i updated the drivers i was able to finish my Wu's but unable to d/l new ones as it under reported the memory on my BFG 8600GT. After i rolled back to 196.21 all was fine. See this post for a little more info: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=59273&nowrap=true#990585 |

if you are going to roll back dont go back to 196.XX IIRC those version had fan controller problems that could kill your GPU. if you are going to back off go with the 190.XX which has shown to run the GPU faster than newer drivers In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Yeah i read about that problem with the fan speeds, im currently using 197.45 and things are going at a fast enough pace, monitoring temperatures closely for a couple WU's now and never goes above 64 Celsius. Scorpions - Wind Of Change |
