Greg, welcome back! Some of us were getting a little bit worried about you!!! (Ok, mostly me. I do that. It is a mother hen instinct I cannot shake.) Anyway, hopefully your absence was due to a fabulous vacation and you will be posting pictures of that shortly.

@Angelina and Brad;

No I was not on vacation but thanks for thinking of me. Seems there is some old mine in Oxnard that some guys want to mine again. Where is Oxnard anyway?

This is kinda like asking my wife for directions. She says it's near Connie's not to far from Patricia's. SO I googled it and guess what ... I still don't have the foggiest.

Well maybe the foggiest; it has beachfront on the property. And I think it's the Pacific ocean. So what do you know, I am getting closer.

Is it a superfund clean up site?

Well, I guess I have to call them tomorrow. They supposedly have 60 acres of a tailings pile to work on. Next to that is the old mine. I can't see much of anything from the aerial recon on the web. I don't see any tailings pile at all anywhere in the area.

Maybe Arnie had it moved.

HMMMM!

BTW VW those pics of yours are fabulous for the floor of the ocean.

Well bug spray goes on the list(raid ant and roach), I just killed several red mites, 3 on the window and about 4 outside, I sprayed outside around 2 windows and a door. Must have been all the repair work stirring them up.

Try dry, powdered Boric Acid, VWB. It's safe to humans & house pets, but lethal to insects; it's basically a desiccant to them. Takes a total of 6-8 weeks to really take effect, but it does work.

Good suggestion, I just finished spraying around all the windows and doors I could get to, As I had run out of ant & roach, So I used some flying spray, sprayed liberally, Gad that stuff stinks, But It does kill, I found one outside, It's dead. I put 3 cans on the list, Boric acid powder sounds interesting, But I don't know how to use It properly, Besides I wanted a barrier to keep them out, If I had the extra money I'd hire an exterminator which I've done in the past for about $20-$30 a month. Interesting though.

I had an ant problem a few weeks ago. I had a trail of large ants that were coming in under the front door, climbing up to trek along the back of the kitchen sink before going down behind the fridge. They then crossed the kitchen and climbed up into the kitchen cupboard where they were committing suicide in a pot of the honey the kids had left the lid off.

They eventually left after we went away for a few days and there was no food left about for them to eat.

These are blood suckers in this case and I'm the only source in here, I noticed them outside yesterday on the ground, I think I got them discouraged, But then their not too bright, Nor too numerous and easy as pie to see, As their red.

Scratch the Raid, I found some Ortho Home Defense Max for perimeter control, Early tomorrow or as early as I can I'll spray around the outside perimeter, It's supposed to last a year, So that will take care of that. 1st It was Herbicide, Now It's Insecticide time, the Bugs have declared War, I'll be putting the shields up and the NO Trespassing sign out.

. . . in Los Angeles' China Town - they have a little piece [approx. 3 1/2 X 1 inch - 1/4 inch thick] whitechalk-like bar [$1.00us] . . .

make a chalk-line across a window frame / doorway etc

- where the ants come in & viola! - they'll never - ever come back to that spot again

worked for mi for over twenty yrs . . .

This is your morning win. If this had been a loss you would be informed via the usual method. This is only a win.

It's Ortho, So in this case one treatment is supposed to be good for a year.

Use Nippon, that will see 'em off! Much more substantial line to cross without getting contaminated.
It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues
