I'm running BOINC 6.10.43 (MacBookPro, OSX 10.5.8) and get the same HTTP errors you are getting, also for about a week. Try a re-boot... under Win XP, there area less intrusive ways of doing this, but they don't work on Mac's. . Hello, from Albany, CA!... |

Even if we couldn't respond, I would still have this tech news on my rss news reader. I like to know how SETI is doing and plan computing resources appropriately. |

Can anyone help tell me why I have not been able to download any SETI files for several days; all attempts come back with HTTP errors? As can be seen below SETI downloads fail but all other transactions succeed. 28/04/2010 16:35:11||Starting BOINC client version 6.2.19 for windows_intelx86 28/04/2010 16:35:11||log flags: task, file_xfer, sched_ops 28/04/2010 16:35:11||Libraries: libcurl/7.18.0 OpenSSL/0.9.8e zlib/1.2.3 28/04/2010 16:35:11||Running as a daemon 28/04/2010 16:35:11||Data directory: C:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC 28/04/2010 16:35:11||Running under account boinc_master 28/04/2010 16:35:11||Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5600 @ 1.83GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 2] 28/04/2010 16:35:11||Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 mmx 28/04/2010 16:35:11||OS: Microsoft Windows XP: Professional x86 Editon, Service Pack 3, (05.01.2600.00) 28/04/2010 16:35:11||Memory: 1015.36 MB physical, 2.38 GB virtual 28/04/2010 16:35:11||Disk: 64.66 GB total, 28.51 GB free 28/04/2010 16:35:11||Local time is UTC +1 hours 28/04/2010 16:35:11|rosetta@home|URL: http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/; Computer ID: 926641; location: home; project prefs: default 28/04/2010 16:35:11|ralph@home|URL: http://ralph.bakerlab.org/; Computer ID: 16049; location: home; project prefs: default 28/04/2010 16:35:11|SETI@home|URL: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID: 4628801; location: home; project prefs: default 28/04/2010 16:35:11||General prefs: from http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ (last modified 08-Jun-2006 10:33:55) 28/04/2010 16:35:11||Host location: none 28/04/2010 16:35:11||General prefs: using your defaults 28/04/2010 16:35:11||Reading preferences override file 28/04/2010 16:35:11||Preferences limit memory usage when active to 507.68MB 28/04/2010 16:35:11||Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 913.82MB 28/04/2010 16:35:11||Preferences limit disk usage to 9.31GB 28/04/2010 16:35:11|SETI@home|Started download of 11ja07ah.8669.7843.10.10.249 28/04/2010 16:35:11|SETI@home|Started download of 01dc06ag.8810.6616.3.10.18 28/04/2010 16:35:12|SETI@home|Temporarily failed download of 11ja07ah.8669.7843.10.10.249: HTTP error 28/04/2010 16:35:12|SETI@home|Backing off 1 min 0 sec on download of 11ja07ah.8669.7843.10.10.249 28/04/2010 16:35:12|SETI@home|Temporarily failed download of 01dc06ag.8810.6616.3.10.18: HTTP error 28/04/2010 16:35:12|SETI@home|Backing off 1 min 0 sec on download of 01dc06ag.8810.6616.3.10.18 28/04/2010 16:35:32|rosetta@home|Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. Can anyone help tell me why I have not been able to download any SETI files for several days; all attempts come back with HTTP errors? Hi Leonari, One of the download server's was acting up. In the most recent tech news above this one, Matt thinks he just fixed it a bit ago. Try again. If it still doesn't work, please come back and let us know! |

Thanks, everything is back to normal now! However, after a bit of thought, why did it take so many hours (until just now and my personal intervention @ UTC 07:00) for the remedy to filter down to my machine? Seems strange. |

Thanks, everything is back to normal now! When you ask for the address for the download server you get one of two addresses with a 50% probability if everything is working. Your computer is told not to check the address again for 24 hours, so when things go wrong, it takes up to 24 hours to get the other address. If the round robin DNS does not know about the problem, you still have a 50% chance of getting the address of the broken server. BOINC WIKI |

I ran out of seti WU's this afternoon and it keeps polling for new ones and i keep getting this: 5/2/2010 8:42:00 PM SETI@home Message from server: (Project has no jobs available) |

Take a look at the server status page - there are virtually no "tapes" to process, so the splitters are taking a holiday. So chill out and let your crunchers catch their breath. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Good Morning to all, Like some, I have also received no new tasks and I do have a small backlong of unvalidate tasks (15-20). I know that those who work with this equipment are doing all in their power to get things back online. 'Till then......patience and forebearence! (smile) Be Blessed & Be A Blessing ront |
