A well socialized dog will do it as well but don't try it with a dog that's not well socialized.

That's cause they have to be taught to do that, Or It won't happen, I speak from not owning a Dog, But from helping to raise one from being a puppy. It was My nephews Dog and He was/is a truck driver and She could not go with Him as He didn't and still does not own His own Semi Truck.

It's not so much teaching them as having them developing trust in the pack leader (human). Dogs will also do it with each other in a pack again if they have been socialized by the pack. The Dog Whisper has become one of my favorite shows because it is almost magic how fast a problem can be corrected in a dog with the proper handling.

Well yes, But in fact It's an act of submission, It's the same as Crying Uncle. And so one learns someone is higher in the pecking order than You, Thelma(My nephews dog) was lower in the pecking order, As Buffy was above Her(Buffy was the Alpha female dog and would always win the fight, Thelma was bigger(4 times) and Younger, Yet Buffy still won, Everytime), Sadly Buffy outlasted Her master by about 6 months, He died 5 Years ago, His will was written By His Ex-Wife(My sister in law, She didn't like Me living with Him and wanted to exclude Me from the will, She did manage to write the will and keep Me at Arms length as I could only spend so much on gas and She made sure I was far away by selling the house He owned(She'd gotten power of attorney to do that) as She at the time did not want to let Me have the house(I had an income then as I do now, She said I'd have to live within My own means) as She didn't know what was coming from My Aunt's Estate(She was really old then and passed in 2006, Jim(My Brother) was alive as of 2004 and I still lived in the old house up until July 2004, The house was worth about $53,000 then and had a mortgage worth about or so $30,000 as I recall), It would have been cheaper to stay($289 or a month vs $425 a month in 2004, She did pay $400 to get Me in here as I didn't have the money to buy My way in to rent here then), But I think She just wanted Me out of His house and His will, I was told He(Jim) would not sign unless I was in the will and when I tried talking to My Brother in person He didn't seem too lucid(My nephew told Me the fact that She(My Nephews Mom) didn't want Me living there with My brother and the fact that His Mom wanted to exclude Me from Jim's will(Last Will and Testament)). I wish I could do something besides pay $399 to the IRS for My sister in laws tax records dating back to 2003 in January(their Public Records), As I think He and I were kept a part as He was being taken care of by His Sister in law while in Her house while He was dying(Tricare would not pay for a Nursing home beyond a month or two). In 2003 and 2004 I was under the care of a Psychiatrist and My Sister in law knew this as I had the use of Jim's GMC pickup truck after Jan 2004 until about July of 2004, I briefly had power of attorney, She took It away from Me after a few months.

One of our cats rolls over for gentle belly-rubs every morning!

They will let You do that for only so long, Then they'll swat at You(Angel would do this and did), It's a hangover from when they were kittens I think.

Oh duh! I just got it. Is it a mole?

I dunno for sure, but I think it's a ferret.

I'm sure Alex would know for sure, 'cause he has one.

EDIT: After a bit of searching around, I've come to the conclusion it is indeed a baby otter.

Now as far as I know outside of Humans, An Otter is the only other animal that will lay on It's back and expose Its abdomen, Why? To open and then feed on clams, As an otter will use a rock to pound a shell open to get at the meat inside off the coast of California and this happens around the Kelp beds. Besides I've seen an otters face and that looks like an otters face, It's just a younger version. :D

It's hot and sunny here today, as it was yesterday.

I am sure if we had raccoons we would keep them cool in out cellar or under the floor board spaces -

It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues
