Just got a couple of new LX3 mieces.........the old one had worn out, and was driving me nutz.......
The left clicker was either not responding, or double clicking.......
Thought it was me.........Not.

A simple order of two meeces from Tiger has me much rested.
Now if I could only quit trashing 42h1292's......

They are getting harder to find.......the vintage ones........not the remakes.

An original 42h1292.......which weighs about 5 lbs. with the curly cord..is hard to find these days.


Before Lexmark, before Unicomp.

I need a new one, but none on ebay, and I won't pay $100.00 for one, like some Japanese will.........

I didn't realize that the left click switch on the old one had gotten so funky.

I thought it was me.

Gimme a good mouse and and a good IBM 42h1292, and I'm good to go.

They bought the 'buckling spring' technology from Lexmark, who had got it from IBM, if I recall correctly. And there is simply no substitute.

But a vintage IBM is the cat's meow.

Wish I could find another.

IBM is known for outstanding key boards. The First one I ever used was on an IBM Selectric typewriter in the early 1970's and it's the standard I still judge all keyboards by today. I have not found anything close for PC's because I am also hooked on wireless. Laptops are so bad you almost have to learn how to type all over again. It possible someone will learn how to make good keyboards again but I don't expect it soon.

Wireless, is not so bad....I currently use the MS 'Photo' Keyboard (4000?) and matching mouse. Quite good, but not in the same league as either of the two IBM keyboards, I've got back in Devon. Curly cords and large DIN plugs - no PS2 on these old stalwarts! Come to think of it, someone said that a PS2 IBM keyboard had been thrown into a skip, at work - may well investigate! I've also got an ancient, but still working, MS Bus Mouse - the one that came with its own interface card...brilliant and it still feels 'nice'. Personally, I tend to replace the switches, when a mouse acts up - switch, £0.90....new MS mouse, about £20. No contest. Well, I may as well put that CGLI Elect Tech cert, to good use!

Funny, I just dug out my old Northgate OnmiKey keyboard a couple weeks ago, and while at Microcenter, bought 2 adapters, one 5 pin DIN to PS/2, and a PS/2 to USB. Tried it out on one computer, it didn't work, but I didn't have time right then to test it out on a board with just a PS/2 connector. I'll have to give that a try, as that was my favorite keyboard, but it was hard to use in the living areas, especially when playing games late at night. Now, down in the dungeon, next to the farm, well, I doubt I'll be able to hear it over the din, once they are all up and running.

Looks like a MN company (Creative Vision Technologies) bought out the designs from Zeos, who aquired Northgate sometime back in the '90s, IIRC. So, for about $150-200, you too can have one of these old (new) tanks. You'll just need to Really care about the quality of your keyboard...

I have the Logitech G5 Laser mouse at home, and I love it. Wish I had the same at work.

My Dad used to have one of those big mouses with the track ball in the center. His right clicker quit working and I went to radio shack and got a new switch for 1.49 in soldered it back in for him. I bet it still works.

Nice but not the best keyboard IBM ever made. A 029 card punch has a better keyboard.
