Message 983274 - Posted: 24 Mar 2010, 22:42:28 UTC - in response to Message 983245.

.... Unfortunately, I didn't get to really talk to my son, I was too busy yelling and threatening to throw his computer in the trash...

I've not threatened to throw the computer in the trash..but the XBox did come very close to being thrown out the window once when he swore at me.

I have no idea how parents survive their teenage children.

My Mom hated computers, Both at home and at work, She couldn't work as a Secretary as She didn't know how to use one and the employer might have said She wasn't qualified(No College Degree), So She worked as a Shipping/Receiving clerk and I doubt She could have survived on Her own as Her skills outside the house weren't too great beyond using small tools(touchup) and knowing how to interact with UPS/FedEx.

That is a shame. There isn't much left that you don't need to be able to use a computer to do.

She really didn't want to go to college and She was older, I've no doubt She could type(not that It matters now of course).

Me I'm self taught in typing and computers and I spent a lot of time using a computer that I bought, I'd wanted to go into computers, but outside of sales there was nothing in the area, Anything serious was up north neat Santa Clara where My Aunt Jayne used to live. I had thought about becoming a truck driver as I can drive, I just have limits now as I don't think I could load or unload a semi trucks trailer or cover a flatbeds cargo w/a tarp.

Well age is no excuse...and unfortunately you need college to get anywhere. It's never a wasted investment.

Talking of which I'd better get going to my class before I miss another bus.

Well She worked in an Aircraft Factory in WWII for a bit and She didn't do any assembly or Janitorial work, So Her attitude about college probably came from My Dad, As Her Sister and Brother both went to college, Dad only visited My Aunt once in Santa Clara(Mom & I were along, He was looking for a better paying Job up and down the state while on vacation, He worked for a newspaper chain as a route manager then) and rarely visited My Uncle as My Uncle thought I should go to college, So Dad and My Uncle didn't get along(Dad smoked Cigarettes and Uncle Worth smoked Cigars as a comparison)...

That's just the start. When they have kids and they turn out to be just like them, my revenge will be complete.

Seems I'm the winner.

Will consult the random number generator and it says ....

Okay, have at it and keep it lively.

So.. you talk about holes and you win a thread. Interesting.
