If I'm not mistaken, most BT central offices are outside war zones.

So the rule is: supply at the end of the contract what you supplied at the beginning.

That is what you have a QA department for. It's their job to vet and approve the manufacturers production and aupply to previously agreed specifications in the contract.

On U.S. Military contracts, parts may not be substituted. The "previously agreed" specification is "show us what you'll supply, prove that it works, then supply exactly that."

That's why a Toilet Seat can cost $400. Not because any seat will do, but because the vendor that made the plane has to buy 20 years worth of seats and warehouse them.

... and "tools" are "parts" for the purpose of the contract.

;))) most people that have found this place - find themselves 'hyper-ventilating' and acting like kids-in-a-candy-factory . . .

> putting specifics into a bag - weighing it and paying by-the-pound is quite funny . . .

- based on the original cost factor that the people paid out for mil.acq LOL!

btw - i still have 'certain' devices / parts i bought way back when it was Joe Factor and i am still creating with said materials . . .

[my 'tolerance'] - in woodworking & plastics is the same as in machining - which i as well work in

< i machine wood & plastics the same as in metals

- surfacing is one of my particular expertise . . . and loves . . .

i have created / as well as @ present work with quite a high tolerance level in the making of devices

- Integrated electronic systems as well as proto-electron particle accelerators for example . . .

this is just a ramblin' after-thought / something that gets my jets running -

the things that make me tick since i was quite young . . .

and the kitties are real happy today . . . mEowwR

.... and it's within driving distance.

Anything like surplus electronics/radio/computer stuff??

I desperately need a surplus 60 Hz "vibrating reed" frequency meter (i.e. genset frequency meter).

btw - was this query? yours . . .

Way back in QST for March - 1971, there was an article about a line voltage
and frequency monitor. The frequency measuring section consists of a couple of
resistors, a pair of zener diodes, a 0.22 uf capacitor, a bridge rectifier, a
calibration pot and a 0-1 mA meter. I built one and it works very well . . .
