.....ahhhaaa! as they say. Thanks.

I wasn't catching that the validated results were inclusive of Todd's 480's invalid results as well and that wingmen were actually bringing it on home so to speak.

The RAC on the machine threw me off. I neglected to consider how it was an overhang from the 275's efforts as I flipped through his outcomes. I wasn't catching that the successes were other's, after he had the 480's installed.

...seek, and ye shall find ... as I've heard it's been said by any number wiser than I.

Regards,

Not to worry, shipmate.

If you read my previous post, I am as dismayed as anybody that these new cards are not drop-in replacements for the GTX 200 series.

Truely. I would be cancelling my orders for 480s if I were in the same boat. At least a (minor) message back to NV that they are abandoning a group of what were (formerly) pretty dedicated followers.

I am going to try and wait out the problems. Who knows, NV may dry up these cards next week to get us primed for the newer improved version again, in which case my 2 GTX 480's will become valuable to gamers. I guess that if I win the lottery, I had better pick a better engine than those twin 480's for your new wooden boat! :)

At least we crunchers are aware of the problem, and perhaps can create an app that works with them. In the mean time, Rats!

I commend your attitude, my friend.
I would like to give Nvidia the benefit of the doubt on this one, but it should have been sorted before release.

And yet, Newegg can't keep 'em on the shelf. Must be the gamers or those who don't read these forums.

Nvidia better get crackin'.

I wish that EVGA had taken me up on my request for a Fermi eval sample a couple of months ago....I wanted to debut one here on Seti. Yes, I did ask.

They responded that they simply did not have any samples to offer anybody for eval.

They are lucky they did not......

I see that Collatz is working properly but are you sure that SETI@Home is? It isn't normal for the tasks to only take 12sec and that would indicate that there was a memory overflow - that is the same thing that mine were doing.

PM Jason Gee and he will fill you in on how to correct this.

12 or 13 seconds seems pretty quick. Did they work out ok?

Wow. What was that...about 20 seconds apart?! Great minds think alike...and I can't remember the rest.

They are running at about 10 min for them to return meaningful results - this isn't optimized yet and we are going to be making changes later tonight and see the behavior

You guys are correct.
I've gone ahead and not allowed new tasks, seems like only 1 in 20 units are successful.
The successful units avg ~70 min each.

I just got my first GTX 480 in, and the second will be in by the end of the week. It will take me a week to do the water cooling and be totally ready. As I understand it, you can crunch SETI beta, but not SETI regular yet. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

As I understand it, you can crunch SETI beta.......

So the assumption goes, given the appearance of a plan_class 'cuda_fermi' executable on the Beta applications page.

But nobody has answered my question from a week ago, about how that can be possible if the app itself has dependencies on cuda 30_14 DLLs which hadn't been installed on the download server.
