I got a couple hundred Seti Beta WUs before that server was taken down. Too bad they're not transferable. Hmm.. I asked for a few months at the SETI@home BETA forum about BETA WUs and it look like they are real WUs like at SETI@home MAIN. Finally managed to upload the finished tasks just now and I even got 2 new ones that are running now. I have a question though. I'm running on 2 systems, one windows7, one Mac OSX. The windows7 seems to have less problems connecting than the mac does. I am planning to upgrade to snow leopard this week but there doesn't seem to be a 64bits BOINC manager for osx. I suppose I could just run the 32bits again but it seems a bit of a waste. Anybody know more about this and why the mac is doing worse connecting to the server and getting new tasks? If this or that OS have more problems to connect, this question would be well for the 'NC subforum'.. ____________ [Optimized project applications, for to increase your PC performance (double RAC)!][Overview of abbreviations, which are used often in forum and their meaning.] ![]() |

Eric, You've probably forgotten about this since its been over a year but you were going to do some sort of official announcement about the Good Search account you set up. Do you think you could get around to it sometime? Cheers, Bob ![]() Do you Good Search for Seti@Home? http://www.goodsearch.com/?charityid=888957 Or Good Shop? http://www.goodshop.com/?charityid=888957 |

Don't be discouraged: my single computer has downloaded about 12 tasks, just after 3 messages saying that seti@home has no more work available. I'm not using the word "fixed", but I am saying "thanks" to those who are keeping things working. |

Well, I wouldn't go that far... There is still a serious throughput problem with getting static content from wherever it is they are storing it. This effectively renders most of the interactive areas of the websites useless for the most part. Alinator |

I don't see this, Al. OK, once in a blue moon the CSS on the main page is a little late in loading, but other than that everything here loads quickly. |

Hmmm... Interesting. I came back to check for any new posts and now the site performance is pretty good again. Don't know what the story was, but I had tested with different hosts, browsers, and at several different locations over the last couple of weeks. Guess the team either got it fixed, or you just have to mention a problem in the forum for it to go away finally! ;-) Alinator |

... or you just have to mention a problem in the forum for it to go away finally! ;-) If it was that easy, SETI and BOINC would be working WAY better by now. ![]() ![]() |

LOL... True, but all I know for sure was the slow loading and other problems had been making the site and project in general an agony to use lately up until last night when I posted, and now responsiveness is still good. So I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, and take what I can get! ;-) Alinator |

since there has been a lack of news, I thought I would copy some here: WEEKLY MEETING UPDATES 3/8/10 Mon, 03/29/2010 - 14:09 — travisk Jeff is “pushing ahead†in joining the new high-speed internet connection from the Space Sciences Lab down to the UC Berkeley campus. Matt has been seeing success injecting synthetic signals into our raw data for the purpose of testing our search algorithms. Eric says the radiofrequency interference (RFI) rejection for Optical SETI’s Pulse search has reached 95%, and he is working to increase that number. Ali is busy installing the new Informix-run database. Andrew is looking into archiving our old data, as it will be invaluable in the future to have access to data in a non-degrading form. * travisk's blog * Add new comment |

The replica DB is still offline since the server maintenance. Maybe someone forgot to switch on again? I prefer to think that they know what they are doing (that has been proven often enough!) and that it is off for a good reason. F. ![]() |

The replica has been decomissioned. They split the Multibeam and Astropulse tables into 2 separate DB servers. |

So, does that mean we will no longer have access to our state of processing of tasks? Decommissioned replica sounds as if you mean a permanent cessation. Or will there be a similar facility with the 2 (mb & ap) databases replacing the one "replica"? But perhaps I am not understanding what you have said? Is this the first we hear of the important change? (Or should I say "Where was it announced?", being somewhere I did not see it) Keith |

IF there will be no replica, then somebody needs to point all database inquiries to the master, because right now, they are not getting current data. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |
