So, who needs to be told that the Replica is no longer being updated? Someone at BOINC? Have they been told? Or is there a reason why it can no longer be updated? If so, will the same access be available through the 2 new SETI databases? And when? (If at all) Keith |

So, who needs to be told that the Replica is no longer being updated? We have never had, nor do we need access to the science database. Our purpose as volunteers is to populate the science database. BOINC isn't designed or intended to hold completed results. As for the rest: No one needs to be told. It isn't that important. You're making a huge assumption when you say "can no longer be updated" and it is in fact somewhat normal for the replica to be down for a while. The skepticism behind the "and when? (if at all)" is discouraging, given the fact that the folks running the project have done a superb job of doing huge science with little money and "hand-me-down" hardware for a decade. |

Thanks, Sten-arne, for repeating explanation which i did not quite understand the first time. That the new data bases are those referred for science purposes. While the Replica fulfils a different purpose entirely. Ned. I would like you to realise, i was asking questions, not making any assumptions. And hope there are people who will answer questions posed by my ignorance without them being dismissed as being not important. To me the answers are of interest. I quite appreciate your comments about doing things on a meagre budget, but i would appreciate that not being thrown back as an answer to every query that is posed. You must appreciate that everyone is not quite as clever and knowledgeable as you are. Keith |

Ned. Keith, I didn't mean to offend you as being "unimportant" and definitely not "dismissive" but was hoping to get across the idea that there is a track record here. We as a society have come to a point where we expect and demand instant fixes. We assume when it isn't fixed right now that the only reason it isn't fixed is because it has been discontinued. In your message, you said "is there a reason that it can no longer be updated?" and that seems to assume that it is a permanent condition, and we're going to have to live with no statistics, no progress. "if at all" seems to suggest that this is a permanent condition. My observation isn't clever or knowledgeable. I observe:

The replica database is back online and catching up to the master as we speak. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

Houston we have a problem???? The work done and statistics have not updated for about 12 hours. I have tried forcing it. Everything appears "Normal" on server status (7 splitters still disabled) Does anyone know if there is a problem?? |

... We also appear to be having a problem or two with the "science status" page: the "overflow rate" has been at 0.0% for a couple of days every time I looked at it, (highly unlikely to be true) and the link to Arecibo shows "Values as of 38760 minutes ago... so that's apparently down, too . ![]() Hello, from Albany, CA!... |

Any news on how long till its fixed. Just want to know when my missing 21 tasks will be checked in. "My results" say 34 in progress but actually only 13 left to do then I'm out of work. Any news much appreciated. |

The Cricket graph show again after a few hours very less, now more traffic to and from the SETI@home servers. So new work should be available, but current very slowly. The PC/tasks overview will be again up-to-date if the replica database is again online. I get like 200 tasks a day on one of my quad cores, very strange, never had that before, more like 10 tasks a day... Check the run times - I bet they are all VLAR Work Units... (if CPU...) On another front, the tie to Arecibo's positioning is now showing "as of 5020 minutes ago" so that's broken again - on the science status page. . ![]() Hello, from Albany, CA!... |

She started to process CUDA work units and has downloaded a batch of them. |
