I'm not the best person to do tech news, because much of the time I don't have a clue, but here's what's up.

The sudden upswing today maybe means we're back to full upload capability. Maybe when I get home, I'll see that my upload backlog has cleared. Who knows if campus will tell us what the problem was. Hopefully it won't happen again this coming weekend.

Lando has been upgraded to FC11, but cat't run Astropulse splitters anymore until we build new ones. We're temporarily running an astropulse splitter on Thumper.

There are rumors of a potential upgrade to part of a gigabit link, but they are still rumors AFAICT.

So, do I read into this that the "problem" may have been in the campus hardware in between the SETI closet and the rest of the world?

That is my (very limited) understanding of the most likely place. Or it could have been at the PAIX itself (lesser probability, I think).

The fact that I'm not sure is why I'm not the best person for tech news.

Whatever was done seems to have worked. My backlog of uploads are long gone, I have plenty of new work and all is right with the world. Thanks to all the crew there at Berkeley for all their hard work. Hope the campus guys let you know what happened so you can pass it on to us.

Yahoo! My backlog of 31 WUs is gone!

Man, my statistics graph took a big dip, but it'll recover. I hope new WUs are available before I run out in about five days.

Can't fill My cache much beyond 1.5 days though(1 step forward, 1 step back), It goes up and then the quad core takes It down and then eventually I get a few more wu's and the scheduler says No work is available(below), Hopefully overnight this will change.

Ditto to all that in spades!

In between the "no work" messages, I've got a pile of new jobs and the front page says there's a pile more to be had. Guess we're all competing for it through the same small pipe.

Thanks to all who helped to blow out the blockage.

Hi, yesterday evening at 21:00 (local), download's started again, still no upload's, by then.
This morning everything appeared to have cleared up, don't know, what's been done to solve the problem, but it disappeared.
Cricket, also shows more activity, although it collapsed a BIT.
And Eric thanks for the update.

woohoo, cleared out a few thousand completed WU's overnight!
Haven't received any new units yet, but I'd say that's a large step in the right direction :)

Thanks for the update Eric and all of the work you guys have been putting in.

Yes, Eric...
Thank you for the update. Hope you can work your magic again this morning and get downloads back on track.

And do tell Matt that, although it has grown tedious for him, his little tech tidbits are truly missed by all here.

Yes, tell Matt we all understand. He should take as much time as he needs. I'm sure we can all spare him a good ten minutes to himself before he gets back to us! :-) We really do miss his updates even if it's just what he did over the weekend with his band.

YEP... downloads dried up at about 3:00am for me... and the server status page is as it was about 2am..... unchanged. <sigh> Back to running MilkyWay until this problem is fixed.

And Eric... thanks for the info.
