As of right now, there is only one dataset left being split. Are we out of raw data? The old blanked stuff and the new since Arecibo came back up? "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Appears so I have had one machine go nuts and dump tasks left right and centre plus a flaky hdd caused a total failure last night, it wouldn't pick up the jobs o had backed up nor would it collect any new jobs oh well we will just have to sit tights and wait matey! |

and the new since Arecibo came back up? It kind of looked like those newer "tapes' last week had been manually added (perhaps as a test), but the automated spooler is still pointed at the old radar scrubbed inventory (which has now run dry right on schedule). Matt had indicated back in October that all new Aricibo data would be run through the scrubbers as well, so maybe there is still a bit of work to glue that process together. With any luck, someone will at least manually add a dozen or so tapes tomorrow... or we might be headed into a very dry weekend (aside from a pittance of re-issues). |

and the new since Arecibo came back up? I kinda assumed that during the processing of all the old reblanked work we were still getting some new data stored up which would be considerable at this point. Ah well......it'll all come out in the wash. Just wanna know where we stand as far as the backlog of work to process is. And wish that Matt would grace us with some regular tech news again. Hope he is OK....he spoke of being sick for a spell some time ago. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

now my laptops dumped its tasks! grrrr Definitely not a Dry Blackthorn day, then! In theory, I have enough work for my 'main', to last until the early evening. After that....... Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive! |

now my laptops dumped its tasks! grrrr Dear......you have to maintain your cache. I have enough work here to last about 10 days.......a little less on the Cuda rigs......... I have been long chastised for doing so. But why do you think I have been doing so well for so long? There was an old Mark Twain quote about an old woman neglecting her vices..... I will attempt to paraphrase it....... An old woman went to her doctor........ He was an old doctor, so he forgave her for doing so. She asked her doctor what she could do to get better....... She had lived a saintly life all her years. She did not drink, she did not smoke, she did not eat in excess. The doctor tole her. 'There is nothing I can do for you.... 'You have neglected your vices.' I weather the storms. I always have. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

As of right now, there is only one dataset left being split. If I remember correctly, S@H data is recorded when the ALFA-L receiver is being used. We don't get telescope time, we just "piggyback" when others use it. Assuming I'm reading the Arecibo schedule correctly, we're in the process of crunching the last of the data collected just before Thanksgiving. The bad news is that the ALFA-L receiver hasn't been used much since November. Hardly at all, in fact. The good news is - according to this schedule - the ALFA-L receiver will be going to work 4-6 hours a day starting Saturday. We should start seeing some fresh stuff in a couple of weeks. The replica is behind by a little over 5000 seconds, but I'm seeing as of 5:40pm PST, there's 1570 WU's for MB ready to send and 3 tapes in the splitter's, and on the graph that was posted, traffic is starting to pick up again. So maybe the weekend won't be a total bust. |
