I got this in an email from my Dad...

And found it very heartrending as well as beautiful.

The talent of this young woman is astounding, the most amazing bit of performance art I think I have ever seen. And quite unique. Hope you enjoy it or at least are touched by it.

Read the following before watching the video, it will tell you what she is drawing.

This video shows the winner of the 2009 " Ukraine has Got Talent", Kseniya Simonova, 24, drawing a series of pictures on an illuminated sand table showing how ordinary people were affected by the German invasion during World War II. Her talent, which admittedly is a strange one, is mesmeric to watch.

The images, projected onto a large screen, moved many in the audience to tears and she won the top prize of about $75,000.

She begins by creating a scene showing a couple sitting holding hands on a bench under a starry sky, but then warplanes appear and the happy scene is obliterated.

It is replaced by a woman's face crying, but then a baby arrives and the woman smiles again. Once again war returns and Miss Simonova throws the sand into chaos from which a young woman's face appears.

She quickly becomes an old widow, her face wrinkled and sad, before the image turns into a monument to an Unknown Soldier.

This outdoor scene becomes framed by a window as if the viewer is looking out on the monument from within a house.

In the final scene, a mother and child appear inside and a man standing outside, with his hands pressed against the glass, saying goodbye.

The Great Patriotic War, as it is called in Ukraine, resulted in one in four of the population being killed with eight to 11 million deaths out of a population of 42 million.

An art critic said:
"I find it difficult enough to create art using paper and pencils or paintbrushes, but using sand and fingers is beyond me. The art, especially when the war is used as the subject matter, even brings some audience members to tears. And there as surely no bigger compliment."

Here is the youtube link to what I consider to be an amazing performance....let me know what you think. I have never seen anything like it.
Be prepared, it brought tears to my eyes.
And yet I still want to watch it again...to see the beauty of how she creates her story, however sad....

Hi, I must admit, it is heart touching and very beautiful, she's really talented.
My dad, also traumatized by this (2nd) World-War, died 22 years, ago, 2 years after he retired at 65.

I have to admit I was absolutely stunned with her 'painting' - truly amazing. Kseniya is a hugely gifted and, it has to be said (the 'boys' probably noticed, as well!) a very pretty young woman.

I am glad a few of you who viewed this thread took the time to watch it and were as touched by it as I was.

Well worth the watch.

That was very beautiful.

It's hard to watch each drawing destroyed to make way for the new. It's symbolic to the fact that everything, no matter how beautiful, is only temporary.. Nothing lasts forever.

Which reminds me of a song I've always loved... Dust in the wind.

As most of you know, I miss my musical friends the most.
The hours of my life I have spent with them can never be replaced.
Mary Travers filled my soul with such love.
Les Paul.......how can you replace HIM?
Alpine Valley and The Master of Guitar...Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Les Brown and his band of Renown.
The missing twin of the Blues Brothers.....John Belushi.......my GOD, it crushed me when he left.
The MAN.......in black. Cash...Mr. Cash.
Roy Clark
Mr. Orbison

Soooooooooooo many more I can't remember right now.

So when something special touches me, I have to pass it along.

I miss the Sparrow of Paris, Edith Piaf, the most.
Watch "La vie en rose" sometime. Yes it is in french, but I am sure you can follow the story and enjoy the songs.
Pluto will always be a planet to me.
