I noticed the same thing myself when I did a google search for seti, and put a post in the BOINC boards here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=5486

. . . Hopefully we'll get the remaining dropped packet problems sorted out today

and, as Eric mentioned on FB:
"Same old stuff. Router not handling a load that it should easily keep up with"

Could this all have something to do with this?

SETI wasn't the only thing hacked last night. Some wise a** took control of my computer last night for about half an hour. Thought there was something wrong with my keyboard, stuck keys possibly. Then all hell broke loose when windows explorer would open multiple panes and was searching for different files. This really freaked me out! Closed them as quick as possible. I opened task manager to see what was running and it closed by itself several times and then it wouldn't open at all. Then it launched firefox and I closed it immediately and snatched the cord out of the router. Then I switched keyboards hoping that was it. Nope, it all started again. Finally had to do a system restore in safe mode because it kept failing otherwise. All my antivirus and spyware programs didn't find anything. The only clue was several entries in my firewall log about stopping unauthorized logins(Apparently it didn't stop it!). I had my router firewall set on low so my son could connect to xbox live. I'm thinking this might have been prevented if it was on high like usual.

So now even though everything seems fine, I don't trust my computer anymore. I'm dreading it but I have to do a fresh install of windows.

I'm wondering if it was the new unpatched zero-day vulnerability in firefox that let them take control...

Glad I didn't have any really important personal info on this computer. I downloaded tax software last week but haven't had a chance to do them. And all my really personal stuff is on an external HD that is always turned off until I need it.

I'm really pissed right now..

I use Avast and Spy bot Search and Destroy, I run them both automatically, Of course I have a DSL 7500 modem and a Netgear router and both have their firewalls enabled, Wireless Super G w/WPA2 AES+TKIP encryption(63bit full strength) @ 108Mbps, No problems here.

Sorry You are having problems there.

Thanks SJ. I'm thinking this was caused by a vulnerability that hasn't been patched yet or a Trojan that hasn't been discovered yet and has no virus definitions for it yet. Hell, it's probably still on my computer and just idle at the moment.

I'm not a wiki editor type, but it looks like the BOINC Wiki is also under attack.
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Release_Notes Has some pretty weird links on it.

We are aware, and are going through the who-what-how-how much right now.

Looks like it came from Ukraine so far. But it's a dial-up pool so that doesn't narrow it down much.

The very first time I installed Avast(I downloaded Avast off of the internet as I didn't have anything other than AVG at the time), It detected and removed a Trojan Horse and a Root-Kit, I run XP64 and I've never felt safer. The AV program I'd used before was AVG and It didn't detect either one and I think It had been compromised as It would update once or twice and then It would stop updating and so I'd have to reinstall AVG, I just finally got tired of AVG and went back to Avast and I haven't looked back and It along with Spybot Search and Destroy are free.

Oh and You're welcome.
