If this is not the appropriate thread, I'd like to know which one is. I've looked around and don't see anything. You can find answers to specific problems in the Number Crunching forum, by topic. Try "Panic Mode On" for general complaints. Technical News will discuss more general issues as well.
If you can give us the typical messages you see in BOINC when trying to get new tasks, there are very bright people in Number Crunching that can then give you direction.
Check server status on the SETI home page. Also check the FAC page to understand all the information listed there.
The Tuesday scheduled outages are usually posted on the SETI@home home page. Unscheduled outages are, well, unscheduled. |

Ross, (parl) I see you just uploaded and reported two tasks and downloaded another just a few minutes ago. Since your machine seems to be taking quite awhile to complete each work unit, you might try uping your cache by a couple of days to get some more work. If that doesn't help please start a new thread in the number crunching forum and we will try to help you there. PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

Thanks for the quick and helpful replies. I'll post more in Number Crunching to a new thread. Ross |

BTW. This results were ULed before/during the weekly server maintenance and were reported ~ 20 hours later - after the server maintenance. BTW. What is the max. time between UL and report that everything will go well? ____________ [Optimized project applications, for to increase your PC performance (double RAC)!][Overview of abbreviations, which are used often in forum and their meaning.] |

It can be quite a while between upload and report and still have everything go well. I had some tasks at Chess960 that were uploaded before one of the several months long outages. Some of them validated when they were reported after the outage. Hmm.. two 'validate error' results are not enough for to let run the script.. One WU got the 3rd wingman and is now 'deleted'. ____________ [Optimized project applications, for to increase your PC performance (double RAC)!][Overview of abbreviations, which are used often in forum and their meaning.] |

Matt's still on board, but we're all a little overworked today, so he may not post tech news today (even though he's probably still working right now). really! |

yes we've discussed it before on the "Panic Mode.." thread on the Numbers Crunching forum. The easiest way to fix it is to shutdown BOINC and restart. thats all it took for my machine. For future reference Technical news topics are a bad place to put your personal troubleshooting topics. please try and read the Q&A section as well as the Numbers crunching forums. Or just "search" for the key words. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Thank you. Would you be so kind as to advise me as to where the "Q&A" is or how it can be reached? Two points - In the time that I have been a member, I have seen many "personal topics" posted and addressed. Next, there was no "panic" as you seem to indicate. I was merely inquiring to if this was yet another issue which impeding the reporting and downloading operations. Again, thank you for the information and if you would respond to my question, that would be most helpful. ront |

Thank you. Possibly more to the point, on the front page, the third set of links is under the sobriquet COMMUNITY. The second item in the subordinate list is Questions and Answers. While the link provided in the prior message is convenient, giving you the information to find it yourself is also good. Ross |

I doubt that Matt took a holiday. We miss him dearly! In any case, it is my personal opinion that if Matt is not available for whatever reason, Eric c.s. would do well to keep us a little bit better informed about what takes place on the technical level. If only out of respect to all those crunchers all over the world who voluntary let their computers run for science. |
