George, it looks like your opt. app. is not right. That AK_V8 should have been in your Opt. App. but SETI is trying to find it and download it. Try shutting down SETI and Boinc and post the first 20 or so messages after you restart them. I'd bet it will say something to the effect it can't find AK_V8..... My apologies for your loss of credit because of the deadlines not met. :( My earliest deadline was March 4, most others weren't due until April. It's a bummer when a project has a problem that forces WUs to be re-crunched because the deadlines weren't met. I check BOINC every day, such as before I go to work and after I get home. If I see a backlog of WUs that have not been reported, I manually do it with the "Update" button. Otherwise, I just let BOINC do its thing. Keep on BOINCing...! :) CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Hi, I do not check BOINC, every day, it's supposed to 'check' itself and does a good job at it. Only when a screen from a 'troubled host' comes up, I'll check, what's going wrong, if anything is wrong. Sometimes a screen 'pops up', when I play music probably too loud and a mouse picks up the vibrations . . . I'm curious if the SETI staff finds anything unusual, during the outage today? Anyway I'm glad everything is working again and uploaded my WU's. |

George, mine are all in the default location so it just went where it was supposed to. I'm not the greatest when it comes to things like this I just remembered seeing others with the same problem. Your best bet for getting help with this is to ask over on the Lunatic's site. They are a great bunch and are more than willing to help. They also spend a lot of time on this site so you might wait and see if one of them stops by in here. Ok, here is a link to your missing file http://lunatics.kwsn.net/index.php?module=Downloads;sa=dlview;id=130 Stop SETI and BOINC, open this file and place it in your setiathome file in F:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC. then open boinc manager. It should be able to find the file then and you should be good to go.(I hope.) edit: The directory itself might be hidden by windows. I forgot about that, you may have to get windows to show hidden files and folders to find it. PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

perryjay I followed your directions without any luck so I will post at the Lunatics and see what happens. I will let you know of the outcome. Problem solved, strange though. No changes made to PC and had previously installed Lunatic's program last year. No idea why it needed to be reinstalled. Oh well, computer gremlins at work. Thanks again! |

It's a "feature" of the BOINC program that it sometimes deletes files that it thinks are irrelevant when its starting up. This occurs randomly and for no apparent reason. I suspect BOINC launches various processes when its starting and if these don't report back in the right order it makes incorrect assumptions and hoses the files e.g. On a recent restart, one of my boxes deleted the CUDA .exe file and dll's, supposedly because there was no work for them, and then deleted a couple of hundred WU's that had been assigned to CUDA because there was no program to crunch them with. :-S I've also seen it try to delete files but stop itself because it finds the appropriate "partner" file(s) in time. Hi, I do not check BOINC, every day, it's supposed to 'check' itself and does a good job at it. Greetings Fred, When I said I check BOINC every day, I was referring to checking my status and that of BOINC. I don't check it to manually do anything unless I have at least 8 WUs in the queue waiting to report. I can also see if there is a problem that is happening on other than my end, such as this last comm problem SETI experienced. If I see a problem and it's not on my end, I come to these fora to see if there is any information, that is if there is a connection to their website. I agree in that BOINC does a good job of checking itself. I have watched BOINC's evolution since mid-04. It has been doing nothing but improving. Keep on BOINCing...! :) CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Greetings Pappa, I seem to be stuck in a time loop or something. I have noticed that threads and posts are not being marked as read, once that have been. I re-load the page, posts stay "un-read". I go out to the menu(s), come back in and threads and posts are still marked as "un-read". I forget who it was that was doing the work on the forum software, for some reason the name Rom popped into my head just now. I do not remember there being a setting, on the user side, to allow or dis-allow posts/threads to be marked as read when leaving these fora. I will look at my settings once I have posted this. Keep on BOINCing...! :) [edit] I have also noticed that when clicking the post message button, the page re-loads to the "first un-read message", instead of going to the post just made. Windows will sometimes delete any active program in memory on a reboot as well, it will even corrupt it on drive if it can. Then on the other side of reboot, BOINC starts up and finds the executable corrupt, so it will re-request it for download (if possible). Versions of BOINC since 6.6.5 will keep CUDA tasks associated to a CUDA device, even if the device isn't (physically) available. They will time out eventually, when they reach their deadline. |

(At least on my host's) Also remember, some time ago, alot of responces about the forums post and it's respons to a post just read. Anyway, keep on BOINC'in |

Greetings Pappa, Thanks for this thought it was just me, usually after I have read the messages the icon disappears now it is staying there and I know that I have read them. The icon used to reappear if something new has added but says read if my message is added. |

What cooling systems have the server? Perhaps even more cooling systems use? |

What cooling systems have the server? Perhaps even more cooling systems use? while I was gone, no one replied... There is an air conditioning system that feeds the server closet (yes, it is like a "Hall, Janitors Closet" that houses the servers). If no air is flowing (cool or otherwise). Things go dead in a hurry. Regards Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |
