The same thing is yet again happening. Uploads mostly failing at 0%, but some are completing to 100% and still failing and needing to be retried. It appears uploads have been broken for about a day, and they won't fix until the server is reset. Edit: Three days as per below, which is the same duration as the last time. |

Uploads failing started Saturday. more or less excactly @ 3 a.m. since that time, no uploads from my side - Performance is not a simple linear function of the number of CPUs you throw at the problem. - |

I did look OK? I did not see any official reason as to why the servers were down for so long, just a bunch of people posting the same as myself. But I'm an old man and perhaps missed something. Instead of sneering at me perhaps a link to something official would help? Peter. Toronto, Canada |

I am the same as you peter, wondering what was going on,scouring the message boards for some official statement, but staying tight lipped for fear of being ridiculed, many thanks for asking my question, and sorry the official answer to that question is the only thing invisable on the message boards....Take care everyone and have a wonderful day |

Thanks, glad I'm not alone. The Server Status page isn't much help. Peter. Toronto, Canada |

"Easy on eh? Does an outage really merit that level of vituperation? You know they are certainly aware of it AND are working on it. What more do you need to know until there's clearly something to say?" Yes, it does. The ever increasing frequency and length of these outages will try anyone's patience. These outages have become a bi-weekly event. After almost eleven years of running servers, the Seti team would have it down pat. Vlad |

That's 'normal' too! Ya, seems like it has become the norm. Sad to see as it wasn't always that way. :\ Semi-frequent interaction by the project leadership was always a welcome/comforting thing here. Was rather good for project PR too... |

Instead of sneering at me perhaps a link to something official would help? When no one knows why, due to an official lack of official information from the project staff, sneering at you is the only thing left to do. :) We used to get some official info in the Technical News area, but that became a J.O.B. for a single busy person. He has since decided he didn't need the additional drudgery involved in keeping us peons up-to-date. That said, I don't blame you or anyone else for starting a new thread, as some of these folks can't remember how long it takes to load (& sift through) a mile long "Panic Mode" thread on dial-up. Plus, the last few posts in that thread may or may not give relevant info to the current situation. (Not saying anything like threads here at times tend to wander off topic or relevance... :o ) *EDIT: I didn't post back to back in the same thread..I know it! But, since someone is playing cut & paste with the threads, thanks for keeping an eye on the various post(s)context. And for making another thread a mile long and a PIA to load up on dial-up. :-( |

" After almost eleven years of running servers, the Seti team would have it down pat. " After 11 years the infrastructure is old and weak. Three years in a commercial environment - five max - and you've swapped every bit of hardware out. Not so the case here where they're running on a shoestring, and an old one at that I take it. Personally I've sent off a nominal donation to help in that regard. Conversely, if getting upset with the team helps improve things more I am sure they are pleased with all the attention everyone is willing to direct their way presently. Seriously though, why all the angst everyone? It seems outsized to the issue to me. I've had my share of IT production outages and frankly I am always just a little surprised with what they're accomplishing with so very little. I can only dream of having such dedication for the money on the endevours I get to direct. Perhaps try a little goodwill and see if that might put things in a better perspective. Regards, |

I have been on the Road for over the Last Three Days, I am tired and see many asking the same question that has No Answer! Normally after Enterpise LEVEL Servers OVERHEAT there is FALLOUT. Not seconds/minutes/days/hours/weeks/months... IT HAPPENS! A Multimillion dollar corportation would ahve purchased new machines to replace what was over heated and migrated the data. Seti does not have that luxury. We are Stuck. Because of a Database Crash, the DB was Restored to 16 Jan 2009. Then You gripped about Credits and Validation errors.. Read Below. A Protion of that has been fixed for Seti Main... Scheduler and uploads never were healthy... go figure... For Myself, I enabled backup projects and I personally have a TON of work that has not reported. I also asked for some kind of hint/news form Eric and Crew (before I left)... Well it is not here... All I can do is guess that it is important. In the mean time everyone grab your Round-TUIT, when is somethng to report they will get their ROUND-TUIT... Regards Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

The lack of information flowing out of Berkeley to us, the workers, is my biggest complaint. But this has been true since the early days of Seti classic. I tire of the arrogance the staff at Berkeley show to us. The reason we've gone from some news to none is probably because they're tired of the arrogance of some users. Why do anything when whatever you do isn't satisfactory? They might as well just please themselves. Grant Darwin NT |

Cricket graphs suggest the guzinta/guzouta is sort of working. I think there is also a problem with the roun'n'roun bit in the middle. Based on a lifetime of explaining technical problems to non-technical bosses. |

The outrage sorted the crunched work upload problem. Now there is a 2waiting to report" problem (it wont because of scheduler request failed when receiving data from peer). It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |
