Message 978598 - Posted: 14 Mar 2010, 13:35:21 UTC - in response to Message 978415.

The good news is all my Validate Errors have disappeared! Thanks!

Nope, didn't happen. Maybe the d/b just wasn't responding in a timely fashion. Still have 4 ve's. No biggie.

This morning pathping reported 13% packet loss.

Crunch 'em if you got 'em!

Good day,

My finished WU's would not upload due to "HTTP error".
Any workaround?

Cheers

The project has been having problems for a long while now. Normally if I just wait, it eventually clears up and everything uploads and I get new tasks. I don't think this is a problem I created unless manually suspending tasks and restarting them can create an issue. I did that because I noticed a bunch of tasks that had due dates that were due in a day or so, yet when the program finished with the tasks it was working on, it went on to other tasks that were not due for a long time instead of the tasks that would be due the soonest. So I suspended every one that started until it got to the ones I wanted it to do so they wouldn't be late. If that is the wrong thing to do and might be what has caused my problem, I'd appreciate the information. No rocket scientist stuff please.....I'm just an install Boinc and run it type of user :)
Oh, and I am running version 6.10.18

Message 978956 - Posted: 15 Mar 2010, 13:05:37 UTC - in response to Message 978955.

I have two machines (one Mac and one PC) running 21 and 18 respectively that will not upload completed units. This has been going on for nearly a week now. Some of these units are nearing expiration. I can get new units but they are really stacking up now. What's going on? Help.

Please.

(I had tried upgraded to 36 on the Mac but that made it worse and it would neither upload NOR download so I reverted to 21)

Hi dudes,

So am i in the same upload failure, try some trick found around, as modified header http_1_0 in the option section of cc_config.xml, but stop to play with my conf, for sure it's an upload server problem (2 Linux et 2 MAc have the same issues)

Hope they'll won't wake up to late in california this monday ;)

Yep...It's been going on all weekend...They'll surely have to take the servers down for awhile to get whatever's wrong fixed...Hopefully it'll be clearing up later today or tonight.

The servers are down???? Oh no, quick, run to the panic thread!!!! :-)

Whenever you suspect the servers are down it is best to check there first. The first post usually comes within minutes of the servers taking a break.

Nothing is 'wrong'.

The regular unplanned Weekend-downtime seemlessly blends into the regular planned Tuesday-downtime, we get a couple of days clear uploading and downloading, and the cycle repeats...

This is 'normal'.

Well, Matt is certainly in the lab, because he's added a new item of front-page news - and that's something that he certainly wouldn't be allowed to do remotely, after last month's little escapade.

But I do sometimes (well, often) wonder how quickly they notice that something needs attention, like UPLOADS do at the moment. Superficially, everything looks OK - the server status page, the cricket graph, both look OK at a casual glance from the other side of the room. It's only when you look close up, and check the actual figures, that you realise there's something wrong.

Or if you run the project yourself, of course.

Well I think they might be in the office, a few of the servers that where offline on Friday are now online. Best bet is they are getting ready to fix the problems and waiting for that wall of results to come flooding in.

SETI should give a rephrased warning to tell us that

"THE SERVER IS PERMANENTLY TEMPORARILY DOWN"!!!

Right now, just one Mac out 4 machines could have sent some results few hours ago, just a few of them (10 waiting on this Mac, just 3 pass trough and succeeded upload)...
So it's better than this morning, but not fixed ;)

S.N.A.F.U. as it were. lol

Could be that some of the hardware is still quirky after the near meltdown the other week.

Hm, IMO so big drop in uploaded results per hour is very symptomatic even for short glance...

Personally I wouldn't have a problem with the lack of uploads ... I understand things happens ... the problem is when this stuff happens BOINC insists it can't connect to the internet every time the SETI@ site won't connect and popping up message balloons to that effect.

It seems that for the last 12 weeks or so the servers there will not stay online throughout a weekend. Seems Boinc servers require constant human intervention to keep them online for any length of time. Is this indicative of software bugs or other problems with the server side of Boinc?

The lack of information flowing out of Berkeley to us, the workers, is my biggest complaint. But this has been true since the early days of Seti classic. I tire of the arrogance the staff at Berkeley show to us. It would take less than 3 minutes to post a short note on the front page, if the desire was there to do so.
