This is a SETI@home problem only, not a BOINC problem, because other BOINC project servers works well.

Hi,
IThe lack of information flowing out of Berkeley to us, the workers, is my biggest complaint. But this has been true since the early days of Seti classic.

I do agree ; such things happen, it is not the first time, neither the last time, that the way it works, and it's not really important, "c'est la vie !".
But the lack of informations and communication is not supposed to be so misty - Just an edit somewhere on the front portal could be nice, nobody can believe no-one of berkeley heard about - Or i wanna try the same cocktail they had this week-end  :)

Thanks anyway for what is maintain for years, do you best (but asap ) ;)

My error

Has anyone noticed that the "Technical News" section hasn't been updated since Feb. 22nd? What's up with that?

Matt L did most of that but as he explains here he is taking a break.

Personally I wouldn't have a problem with the lack of uploads ... I understand things happens ... the problem is when this stuff happens BOINC insists it can't connect to the internet every time the SETI@ site won't connect and popping up message balloons to that effect.

To eliminate the pop up reminders
Advanced View
Advanced Menu => Options => General Tab => set Network interval reminder slide to 0, click OK.

Edit: This feature is mostly needed by dial-up users that don't have always on connections.

Since I only crunch for Seti I was not aware that other projects are working ok.

Then I would guess that the Seti project leaders cannot locate the problem and so are reluctant to state that fact.

If you set "Network Reminder Interval" in Advanced > Options to 0 it won't do that.

I'm getting the shakes, too.

But don't forget that seti is not the only thing these guys do. Perhaps today is a big meeting with the Grant Review Board and they feel that getting some money for the project is important. Or perhaps today is the day they have to meet with a group of professors from around the world about remote sensing techniques for penetrating galactic scale molecular clouds. Anyway, this is just one project that they are working on so they may not have been working this problem from 8 to 5 as we might hope.

I really want it working too, but I can live with it no matter when it comes back online. Take a deep breath with me and we'll check back later.

Easy on eh? Does an outage really merit that level of vituperation? You know they are certainly aware of it AND are working on it. What more do you need to know until there's clearly something to say?

You know they are certainly aware of it AND are working on it.

Unfortunately, I was trained as a scientist, not a priest. I need evidence, rather than blind faith, in support of such an assertion. I've been looking for it, and so far I haven't found it.

Bit like SETI itself, really ;-)

Edit - but just as we enter Tuesday UTC, I see the 'Tuesday outage' notice appear on the front page. Does it usually appear as early as this, or is this a sign of life in the server closet?

I would try reading other threads first before starting a new one about the same subject.

"Unfortunately, I was trained as a scientist, not a priest."

I'm just suggesting we extend a little good will. The opposite approach seems a little churlish to me, that's all. It doesn't take axiomatic proofs to discern that it would be highly improbable they're sitting with their feet up having a laugh, as has been implied.

Personally, I'm trained in the maths. Doesn't mean I don't believe in the best in folks 95% of the time.

The same thing is yet again happening. Uploads mostly failing at 0%, but some are completing to 100% and still failing and needing to be retried. It appears uploads have been broken for about a day, and they won't fix until the server is reset.

Edit: Three days as per below, which is the same duration as the last time.
