As title... I plugged two GT240's into my box about halfway through January and was averaging about 5k RAC - I've OC'd mine from the standard 550/790/1340 upto 640/850/1560 Tip on these cards though - if you get the 190.38 drivers on the install CD these aren't the same as the 190.38 drivers on the nVidia website as these don't recognise these cards. should just be able to plug them in, install from the CD and Boinc should recognise the card - I had them working in both 6.10.18 and 6.10.32 |

sorry wrong drivers - 191.07 don't match whats on the CD to what you get on nV's website From the website the drivers say they don't support the GT240 |

I installed this card into an old HP system running Windows 7 RC (64-bit Beta test version) and it worked fine. I was only able to push the core clock up to 610 and keep it stable. Probably could have pushed it further but that was as far as I got. I started getting my warning emails about the looming expiration of my Windows 7 RC test license so I went back to the old XP 32-bit OS. Seemed to have problems with the card after that. I'm suspecting that the 32-bit drivers on XP aren't as stable as the newer 64-bit drivers. |

sorry wrong drivers - 191.07 don't match whats on the CD to what you get on nV's website The latest drivers seem to be much slower for CUDA crunching. If 191.07 will work with your card (when you get it) I would go with them. F. |

Hmm, that's interesting. Especially as the machine that I would put it in is XP 32 bit. Maybe I'll not rush out and buy this then, it might just give me another headache to deal with! |

Hi, I run two of these cards running the latest 64bit Windows 7 drivers without any issues at all I get about 6k - 10k RAC of them when they have work as currently its a bit dry at the moment on CUDA work units. D Cheers D |

Have that card about three months. I use 195.62 from Nvidia site, running without problem. My card have DDR5 memory so from factory setting (560) I OC core to 640. Having big problem with OC with factory BIOS but when I flash card with new version I OC without any problem. What is RAC of that card I cannot say ( because I crunch from time to time), but can say that BOINC point 300 Gflops to GT 240 and 325 Gflops to 9800 Green edition And new 196.21 drivers is not slower at all. 21/02/2010 14:01:12 NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GT 240 (driver version 19562, CUDA version 3000, compute capability 1.2, 512MB, 300 GFLOPS peak) I am cruncher :) I LOVE SETI BOINC :) |

I had issues with the newer 196.21 drivers they dropped my credit by about 2-5% - there was also a bug in these dirvers which meant you couldn't OC these cards with them. They fixed in the 196.34 beta drivers, but with this driver, on restart Boinc would only see one of the cards It's been well documented here and on the Lunatics site that anything higher than the 191.07 drivers do cause a slight drop in speed In all though - these cards are Ok -not great but good enough me |

2-5% is not value that make me cry :) I can / will live with that. I am cruncher :) I LOVE SETI BOINC :) |

When you only crunch the amount I do that 2-5% makes all the difference :-) As far as I can tell the new drivers added no other functionality or improved the output of these cards, although I confess to not being an expert on these things. So IMO why upgrade to something thats slower and adds no further functionlity? |

Let us know how you do with it, I'm still torn between this one ($115), the GTX 260 Core 216 ($235) -both new- and used GTX 280/285's ($250+). I've heard the RAC/watt in the 240 vs. 260 is similar, not sure about the 280/285 though. My limitation (I believe) is that I will have to go with whatever stock speed it comes from the factory with, because I am planning on using Dotsch/UX 1.2 in a diskless setup, and as far as I know, the OC utility wouldn't work in that environment? The main choice for me between the 240 and the 260, and I guess the 28x for that matter, is money. If the perf/watt is pretty much the same, how much do I want to outlay for the initial setup, and especially, since it is ongoing, how much do I want the power company to love me? RAC vs. $, decisions, decisions, decisions.. ;) |

Just added this card as well, and after the first 12 hours or so of it only running Seti I am quite pleased with it. Using the stock app and latest drivers for the moment, no overclock. Only a few tasks have been validated so far but I already have over 3,000 in pending credit. Only the GPU is crunching Seti right now, the CPU is working on other projects. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=5313728 Al- Don't know where you're looking at cards but I got this Galaxy GT240 from Newegg for $89, before a $20 rebate. |

Don't know where you're looking at cards but I got this Galaxy GT240 from Newegg for $89, before a $20 rebate. The same outfit had the Palit GT 240 (1GB DDR3) for $80 with a $15 rebate. Seems like something worth a try, so I shall see when it gets here... |

This might seem like a dumb question so bear with me. I have a new GA-MA785gmt-UD2H motherboard with quad 64 bit AMD processors. The board comes with a built-in AMD ATI HD 4200 GPU. I was planning to get a second GPU and use the CrossFire feature. Will BOINC be able to use the extra processing power? |

So it may not be supported or their documentation might just be out of date. If ATI supports the 4200 for steam processing then BOINC shouldn't have any problems using it.
