I am new here and totally confused. Maybe someone can help answer my questions without being rude (which was the case with a certain user). I wanted to join SETI @ Home, but I have a ATI Radeon 3100 so I presume I wont be able to use any of the BOINC programs? The SETI is running on mine but I am recieving no credit because it wont let me. Is there any way I can download NVIDIA or should I just cancel my membership altogether if I cant be a part of things. Thanks to whoever replies.

Hi Jocks,
At this time SETI doesn't run on ATI cards. There is a separate application that allows SETI Astropulse work to run on it but I'm not sure your card could handle it. The two workunits you have on your machine will run on your CPU so you should be finishing one of them soon so you are a part of things.

As for downloading Nvidia, you can't. Nvidia is another type of graphics card. When they came out with their CUDA processing they developed an app to run SETI. ATI has not done that for us.

Oh, and it is possible your card could be used on one of the other projects but since I only run seti I can't really point you to one. Hope I helped you a little bit. Sorry I don't have much more info.

If you are speaking of me (which is pretty obvious, since I'm the only one who has answered to your questions), I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude.

But you have meanwhile posted the same question five times in two hours. I think that is a bit rude. Here at the forum are many people who are glad to help others with problems, but that can take a while sometimes.

So please, be patient, and feel free to ask, but only once for each question.

Gruß,
Gundolf

Just as an aside, please remember this is an international group here. For many, English is not their first language. What may appear to be a rude answer is really just someone trying their best to help you but having a slight problem getting across in another language.
