I'll post a picture of a Door Mod sometime later to the HAF-932 case and also a Clean vs Dirty heatsink for the moment until I've done the mod, Plus the heatsink has a fan covered by a filter that attaches magnetically to the fan via a strip that has a sticky surface.

The Dusty victim of a BSOD on the P5K Deluxe(1 of 2 that I have, the Donor is the other P5K Deluxe), There's a heater vent nearby and the cpu temp has hit 87C! yikes! The heatsink is facing the wrong way too, Next one down will be filtered and pointing to the rear instead as 2 cores are at about 84C and 2 others are about 5C less.

Now is this Dusty enough or what?

Cleaned replacement heatsink taken from a Donor PC nearby

@SJ
Do you really have to go with the older 2-PCB version of the GTX295?? These seem to be far more prone to one of the GPUs having memory problems and returning lots of errors crunching with CUDA. The single PCB version seem to be far more reliable in this respect (though FiveHamlet seems to have scored a dud or two). Since you won't be buying "new" - no RMA. That's quite a risk.

If It's like New and not registered, No risk, In any case I don't know which one I'll be able to get as there is only one sure place to get a GTX295 of any type from now on(1 or 2 PCB), Oh I do know of a couple places that have new ones left, But I'm not telling, Thats My info.

As to the 2-PCB vs 1-PCB, I've heard that there is no voltage control in the 1-PCB version, That sounds like the fan is not software controllable in the 1-PCB GTX295 to Me, So I'd rather have the old ones, As I can just run the fan at 100% and keep the case as filtered for dust as I can.

I really can't believe that the fan speed cannot be controlled in the newer version. Hopefully someone who runs them (Dave [FiveHamlet]??) can confirm one way or the other?

I have two later model GTX295's..single board.
Fan speed is completely controllable via the EVGA Precision tool.

Thanks, Mark. That's what I thought, and exactly the tool that I use to keep my fan up at 100% (still running at ~90C/90C though and that's without a side on the case!).

Yeah thanks Mark and all, I'll look for the newer type, That's going to be a bit expensive, But they all are.

Now I'm typing this on a Corsair H50 system(I'm Water Cooled), I had to declock(lower the multiplier from 8 to 6) the cpu from 3.52GHz to 2.65GHz as the silly Corsair fan needed some help from a high speed fan(about 100cfm) and It does work, I'd put two 150cfm fans on the H50, But the screws only fit 25mm thick fans and the 150cfm fans are 38mm thick and each has just 2 screws, But It's working, Hopefully the i5 750 won't be as touchy, I'm going to have to ask Corsair If they have some longer screws, Like 16 of them.

Or maybe just 4 120x120x25mm Delta fans, Oh well at least It's filtered and It runs. :D

I did find out that I need some 6-32 screws that are 1 1/4" long, So getting 16 of those will be cheaper than new fans and I should be able to power up the cpu on both the QX6700 and the i5 750 Corsair H50 systems. :D

If the H50 needs 2 x 150cfm fans, I think I'll look at a different water cooler!!

Not sure that it needs 2 fans as I put the second on also since it fit. But with 2 fans and am running at 3.88 my CPU is at 51C right now. Not bad for a $50.00 water cooler. I don't have mine in my case it is attached to the side of the case. It's a cool toy....LOL

Fred, The reason My QX6700 is so hot is not cause It's a bad water cooler, But cause the cpu is so old(it's a 65nm B1 Engineering Sample, Which I bought before the retail launch of the QX6700 cpu) and It's always been an odd cpu as one pair of cores would be 5C higher than the other two cores and It still is, Not much I can do about It. Some use dual 100cfm fans I've read in the preferred push pull arrangement as I am doing, It does work, Next month I'll just buy some screws and then that should fix that, I hope.

Of course the assembly instructions could be better as they do leave a little to be desired.

Here's the Corsair Support forums.

Of course I'll be installing a pair of faster fans(Once I get some screws next month), One a Delta 152cfm and one a Nidec 148cfm that only have their size in common, I may later get more 152cfm fans or maybe the 148cfm fans(100 rpm difference in the fans speed).

Well I believe I found the problem with My overclocking as when I looked at My Arctic Sliver tube that I'd used over the last day or so as I noticed It was a real Silver looking color instead of the Darker Arctic Silver 5 that I'm used to, So I read the label, It says "Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive" "5 minute 1:1 Part A"(the "Part A" is not in the picture, But It's there), Instead of Arctic Silver 5, So I'll have to remove the head from the cpu(after turning the PC off) and clean the pretty adhesive junk off and apply some real Arctic Silver 5 there instead. Sorry about the bad picture below, But It does show what I have at least and It's somewhat readable too. At least I didn't apply part B, In the trash It goes or something. :D

The single board GTX295's can have their fans controlled by software no problem.
You can use Rivatuner or the Nvidia tools app. both work ok.
I have my GTX275's and GTX295 fans at 100% using Nvidia tools temps at around 75c.

I've used the Rivatuner, I definitely need to get 2 single PCB version cards, But no guarantees of course, ebay can be costly, It would have been nice If more were available still, But so far their not. As long as It was dust free and/or cool enough I didn't have problems, Not bad for a 2 PCB version.

@Dave
Have you tried the EVGA Precision? A dinky little tool - much simpler than RivaTuner and more flexible than than Nvidia tools.

Ok I just added the 1st of 3 GTX-295 cards and I added wheels to the case, As It's easier to roll It around instead of lugging this thing around.

I'm looking at getting a 1250w Enermax Galaxy psu to replace the 1050w psu in there as the 1050w will only support 2 I've been told(the 1050w will do until the I can buy the 1250w though and so I'll leave 1 card out until then), But that's a ways off still, Unless I get lucky and sell this Turkey of a house or win the Mega-Millions Lottery soon. :D

I still have to clean all 4 case fans, Buy a cpu, ram, Asetek cpu cooling system(Water) and 2 used GTX-295 cards. Sure the 295 may not be as fast as a 470, But the 295 can do 2 wu's at a time.

Nice spec but
You may find the GTX295's hard to come buy since they are no longer in production.
I have a 295 that has been RMA ed and they cannot get a replacement.
Looks like the 285 has gone the same way, they are still being advertised but try to order one and you get message from most suppliers. Availability: Pre-Order.
Which basically means you part with your cash and you may get one if you are lucky.
You may get second hand cards but who knows how they may have been thrashed.
IE crunching for Seti or just full of cat hairs, sorry Mark had to put that in.
I have been after a 295 to replace the RMA one as I have a refund but to no availl.
Best of luck with the build keep us posted with picks.

Will do, I know there are a few on ebay, Usually 18 or so a day, Besides can a DX10(GTX295) card be mixed with two DX11 cards(GTX480)?
