Update....

Squirrel the miracle kitty has been amazingly bouncy the last few days.
The high calorie diet and the meds are obviously making her feel much better.
I can only hope that her medical condition 'beneath the skin' is doing as well as her demeanor would indicate.

Even if it is temporary, I am very happy and thankful that she is having some wonderful days again.

Meow meow.

Great to hear Mark. You have a PM :).

Thanx, Mate.

Got the PM, replied.
Awaiting response.

Latest news.......

Squirrel, my miracle kitty, seems to be growing stronger every day.
She went in for a vet appointment and her T4 had gone up again, so they increased her meds dosage..now up to 5mg a day, which is still not a high dosage.

She actually gained some weight back though. She went from 6.1 to 6.7 lbs.!!!
This is very heartening to me.

So something is working...her next appointment is in 3 months...should all go well.

The gurl just loves me so much lately....another good sign. Because sick kitties often show their love for you when you minister to them and they realize that your attention is making them feel happier.

Soooooo. Pray for the kitty.

Whatever God has in store for my beloved Squirrel, he has given us some very happy days together since she almost died in my arms some weeks ago.

At night, she has been taken to scrambling up on my chest for attentions, and places her paw upon my cheek so softly......as if to tell me 'I love you'......

It is very touching.

Meow meow purr purr.

Brilliant stuff mark,so nice to hear.

Thank you Chris.

It's hard for some here on the boards to hear me constantly carry on about kitties........but for those who know.....when one can touch your heart like that....well, I don't have to explain it further.

You have either been there or you haven't.

And if you haven't, you should have the 'kitty experience'.

Adopt one today.

Given love and attentions, they will return it tenfold.

There are some who may require more time and attention to bring around than others.........some in the shelters who were not given that in the past, and it might take a while to get them to come around.

(Little hint......they love VERY gentle petting......don't rough them up, at least not at first, some kitties like a little rough petting as play, but for attentions.......gentle is what they love.)

But given that time and attention, all kitties who are loved will give you back more than you give them.

Gare-an-tee.

Meow meow purr purr.

Good News Mark!

One of mine has been ill (Chucky) - Spent about £400 on him in the last few weeks (What's that, about $600 or $700?!) and although he is over the worst of it now and looking a lot happier, he has been diagnosed with Caliche Virus, so will never be a particularly well pussy and will need constant medical care :(

Never heard of that one, but regardless..............
It is the small count of kitties that receive the love and care they deserve.

I cry for the countless that are in the shelters who DO receive the care they deserve, but have no love.

That is a sad sad thing.

I hope your kitty does well..

And witnessing the beginnings of one's life's journey is so special............
although I have never witnessed the birth of a kitteh..

Only the death of many...............and that is a good thing, I guess, handing their souls over to HIS loving hands.

Squirrel, the Miracle Kitty continues to do well.

Since the increased meds dosage, her appetite is undiminished, she gobbles her special kibble with meds with much abandon, and is often waiting on the couch when I get home from work instead of lying on the warm waterbed with the other kitties.

She has become even more loving and attention craving, and has over the last week or two shown an increased interest in jumping up on the headboard of the bed to look out of the window searching for birds and such....spring is a good time for that.

I know, in the back of my mind, that at her age she could crash any time.

But this special time that God and the vets at The Fox Valley Cat Clinic have given me with her is priceless. Yes, they are a kitty-only vet clinic, and there are some wonderful people there.

Meow meow.

I am glad to hear that Squirrel Kitty is continuing to improve Mark. It has been a long road, but she does seem to be making progress.

Little Kedily, the Calico that has adopted us, drops in on us every day (she really belongs to people along the road, but votes with her feet). She has just spent the last 5 hours in the our house and garden. When I got back from work she was sleeping on Anne's lap. A wee bit later she was trying to get comfy on my knee as I sat answering e-mails. She is no trouble, likes attention and affection and gives a lot back.

It is a joy to have a little bundle of warm furriness wanting to be be with you.

I hope that "miracle kitty" continues to improve.

Regards

Tom

I too share my home with Baby, my big, fat, lazy Queen of the House cat.
They are truly amazing animals. My Best Wishes Mark.

Miracle kitty is still holding on...

Yesterday she was as boisterous as a kitten.....chasing me about everywhere I went and just meowing like crazy.....

Hours, days, weeks..
I don't know just how long she will still be with me, but today is a good day.

The Squirrel kitty is doing well....the majik kitty meds seem to be doing their trick.

Miracle kitty update.........

Squirrel, my miracle kitty, is still doing well.

She had a vet checkup this week, and she has gained some of her weight back.

Now at 7.5lbs, back up from her low of 6.1lbs.
And her heartrate was in a normal kitty range of 180...
At her first appointment after her near death episode it was almost 300.

In fact, the vet called me back with her T4 results yesterday and recommended that I slightly reduce her meds. T4 is now just a little low, although you would not know it from her demeanor.
So now she gets a 1/2 tab in the morning and only a 1/4 tab at night instead of 1/2 both times. Which is kinda a challenge, because those silly little tablets don't really split up too neatly...LOL.
But she will get the average of the lower dosage.

She is fat and sassy as a 15yo kitty can be.
Which in kitty years is about 75yo for us.
I should be so spry at 75.

Meow meow.

Most of you remember my posting of the 'Miracle Kitty', my dear Squirrel.

She is still doing well on her thyroid meds.......no further episodes of any kind, except she is more perky than a 16 yo kitty should be...LOL.
Talk about frisky.

But something else woke me up in the middle of the night a few days ago.

I suddenly recalled something that the vets had me do way back when my beloved Tigger was suffering from kidney failure.

Nutri-cal for cats.....

Vitamin and calorie supplement for kitties. And it's good for healthy kittens too. Very good if kitty's appetite is failing.

I bought 10 tubes from Petco......on sale in January for only about $7.00......and free shipping over $69.00...the local Petco's usually won't match online deals like that.

Squirrel luvs it mixed in with her food.

A little boost for the kitty.

Meow.

Hope this advice gives some kitty somewhere a needed shot of extra life.

It did help Tigger through the last months of her life.

Like I said.........
It is a good boost for currently healthy kitties too.

This stuff must have something special to help kitties........

Squirrel, the miracle kitty, is right now absolutely mashing her face into my left arm in adoration.......LOL.
After a coule of weeks, her fur is actually getting softer again......even at her old age.

The kitties don't have enough paws to recommend this product.

And no, I stand nothing to gain from this endorsement, other than maybe a few kitty friends out in Setiland.

Just a bit of kittieness from me to yours.

The stuff is good for kitty. Vitamins and a little extra caloric intake for kitties in stress.

Very highly recommended.
