Just wondering what the status is on getting new work from Arecibo...

We discussed this a bit here.

Conclusion --> if the plan is to finish the older tapes off before shifting back to new, then this likely is ~5 months worth which takes us into March.

[Edit] But if the mavens were to bring AP back online before the old tapes run out, they'd need to either switch or shuffle in some new tapes into the mix.

Interesting....
Not that there is any problem with processing the cleaned-up old tapes...it's still all valid work.
I just was under the impression that they were more of a stopgap until work collection could resume after last year's Arecibo shutdown rather than a priority.
Especially since Matt had tried to load some new datasets after Arecibo came back online, and found that they were corrupted for some reason.

Hopefully the collection of new work is continuing in the background and they are building a nice backlog of new data for future processing.

Yes I thought that too at the time, but maybe given that they're 1-offs from new data, they wanted to get them _all_ off the books. Sometimes when an aging half busted car is really really hard to get started, you're better off leaving the engine running :-)

The status of the Secondary Science Database is now Green (knock on wood)!! Maybe soon there will be more NTPKR, Astropulse, and other interesting stuff to crunch (cross fingers) and the servers will run smoothly for a while (salt over shoulder).

... along with keeping that Big Space Ear accessible for the project so that the flow of new data is abundant and uninterupted ;-)

Is the team submitting any additional proposals for 2010 (deadline near) ?? --> here.

... and they just flipped on the AP assimilator, so that 120,000 backlog of un-validated AP's should clear up fast -- might even be a re-issue or two up for grabs ;-)
