OK, how about playing a regular dvd on a blue ray player? I ask this because i have well over 150 regular dvds. seeing how the format is now blue ray its only a matter of time before all you can buy is blueray.

Some day blue ray players may play older dvds but it takes a different type of laser on both disk so unless you blue ray players states it will play older disk, keep a player around for the older disk or convert them to disk images on your hard drive so you can rip them to another format.

Does discussing "Pussy", which is slang for both the female groin, and a cat, pass the current moderation rules?

Check Walmart's web site. They have some that support both formats and sell for about half the price.

No, for safety reasons I wait until he vacates his den before I start up the bulldozer. I'm sure he'll come out of there at some point this weekend, but I may have to wait until he is distracted by a football game, an electronics surplus sale or a stray cat.

Win...

Found out the daughter of my wife's cubemate passed 2 hours ago. She had been diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer at Easter last year and it had already matasticized into the lining of her stomach. She was developmentally disabled and has the mindset of a 10 year old. They decided not to do treatment (other than surgery) due to her inability to understand what was going on. She was 45 years old...

I'm tired of going to funerals.

Better attend than be the guest of honor.

Know the feeling. I'm now working because the gentleman who I'm replacing was just told he has two months left on earth. When I got the call everyone thought I'd just be subbing for a week or two while he was out sick. Sad to clean out someone's desk who you knew. Lung cancer, yes smoking. Don't do it, it will kill you!

Lets see here is Amazon(OPPO BD-83) and Walmart has blu-ray players from $98 to $248 online, But the BD-83 will play any DVD as It is Region Free, Meaning the BD-83 can play a DVD from any country on Earth, Walmarts are limited to Region 1(The Americas) only.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc#Region_codes

I don't think about that much because we buy few DVD's. We have a DVD recorder that records DVD's region free and we record the keepers off our Dish receiver. However Obama should have though of that before he gave the DVD collection to prime minister of England.

Huh?

DVD Region codes pre date President Obama and He had nothing to do with It in any case...

You must have missed the news story. Obama gave the English Prime Minister a collection of classic movies on DVD on his visit to England. Not only did they have the wrong region code but they also were NTSC instead of PAL. On top of that, the Prime Minister is not a big fan of movies.

Collection of old tech? I still have LP, 33's, punch cards, floppy disc's, tapes, 8mm film, 35 mm film, aps, you name it. Much has been converted, but not all. The only thing I am having a problem playing are super disks. I think they lost there magnetic encoding. Oh well, that was just my wife's stuff.
