that green dash notes a spike or part of a triplet. you are seeing it from the side. normally you'd see it from the front and only seee a single green line In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

probably something similar and you just caught it between screen refreshing. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Hello, I answered in the NC Forum also If by chance you were processing a LAR or a VLAR (low or very low Angle Range) the graphics program can get into a condition where the "screen refresh" gets "very much" behind (and does not clear artifacts). That type of issue was seen in "Seti Beta" and was fairly hard to reproduce consistenlty. It was decided it was not worth the time and effort to trace (possibly weeks of work). Regards Edit: I also note that you are crunching with your 8400GS at the same time. That is not going to help with the screen refresh, you may be overdriving the 8400GS. So while it will not break anything, the video display will be a bit flaky. Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

too true the screensaver and gpu processing never play nice together In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS (256MB) driver: 195,62 (CUDA 3.00 version) Yes, but the GPU is doing two things that take a great deal of processing power, the S@H crunching and the screen saver graphics. BOINC WIKI |

We get it you have a green line. You run GPU workunit while running CPU WU's on the screensaver. these things are not compatible. you will have screensaver lag if it even works. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Three green bars are known as Triplets. They happen all the time. Nothing to get too excited about. |

ok we get it you have green dashes. and yes there are 3 peaks. Please stop worrying about the screensaver. If the data from your Workunits is sent back properly, is validated, and you get credit for it, who cares if the 3 peaks you see are close together. The seti app makes a best fit of the peaks. It sees what it wants to see.visually interpretting every little green dash is a waste of your time. Let it GO! seti@home has computer programs that can weed through all your data in seconds. Lets not forget seti@home isn't going to pull your one WU out of the millions running so they can physically look at every green dash on it. This is not how the project is ran. Also didn't we mention that running the screensaver with the GPU crunching is a bad thing. under normal circumstances the screensaver slows down the WU being processed. By running the screensaver you not only slow down the CPU WU's but you also slow down the GPU WU. BONUS!!!! To put this in in physical terms you're driving on the autobahn @250kph in your 1984 Citroen equipped with a turbo charger(no screensaver) you start towing a friends small car and you notice you slow down a bit(screen saver on). you tow a car on the autobahn, engage the turbo charger but then deploy a parachute.(you defeat the purpose of the turbo charger and it makes doing anything take longer). Suggestion: Turn off the screensaver and quit worrying about it. just run the program. I know I've mentioned to you in the past. The screensaver is not part of the science. Its window dressing and nothing more. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

There's nothing wrong with being excited Skil. The simple fascination keeps people interested in the project. |

Lol this thread has made me laugh! what with the 18 page quote of a WU result file and ""three green" though :)" and "O_o "2 red" = "3 green"" epic reading moments there I love the little O_o quick looks busy the aliens are coming! Turn the screen saver of its only wasting vital mhz!! D Cheers D |
