Just a quick question...

How much RAC would you get from each of the following card on average.

GT 240
GTS 250
GTX 260

Thanks in advance!
Cheers

I guess..

GT240 - 5,000
GTS250 - 7,000
GTX260-216 - 12,000

[GPU/RAC]

AFAIK, the GT240 could have different RAM (GDDR3/GDDR5).

Also look to different core/shader/RAM speeds at same GPU chips.

Hi Dan,

on a good day if Seti@ has enough WUs, my Evga 260-216 gets around 4,000 to 4,500 RAC a day. You can see by looking at the numbers below though, that it's difficult to average out. I can tell you that I'm averaging about 1000,000 credits a month after I added this card. Before that, it took me around 12 months to do what I can now do in 1 month on my P4-3.2. Keep in mind that I bought this card especially for the SETI@ project, so I run it 24/7, even when I'm not home.

Can you tell what month I added the card?

Thanks for that Dave, ive just added a GT 240 so ill post my RAC graph in a few days and then again when I add the second. Then eventually went ive saved up ill get my proper CUDA Card's!

Hey, anyone know what "BS-RAC" means?

There are FAQs at BOINCStats too ;-)
How is BOINCstats RAC (BS-RAC) calculated, and why use it instead of project-RAC?

BS-RAC is the gained credit of the past x days divided by x, where x is the number of days in the day-history (also used for the 60 day history chart), with a maximum of 60 days.

Some projects to not correctly update project-RAC which makes this RAC too high or too low compared to reality.
BS-RAC is more accurate than project RAC because it is updated every day together with the daily update and it represents your true average credit per day.

Gruß,
Gundolf
[edit]Oh, and BS-RAC itself stands for BOINCStats-RAC :-)[/edit]

Uhh.. why you don't use opt. apps?

With opt._CUDA_app (with VLARkill mod) the GPU wouldn't crunch VLAR WUs with < 0.12x AR. (Which would make your whole system sluggish and 'unusable')
I guess your GTX260-216 (if stock, not OCed) could reach easy ~ 12,000 RAC.

One of my 5 OCed GTX260-216 have ~ 15,000 RAC..!!

Also you would double the performance of your CPUs.

Hey Sutaru,

Good to hear from you again. I tried a while back and did my best to add the correct DLL files in from "VLARkill mod" but I just got all WU errors, so I gave up after several hours.

Hi! :-)

I'm mostly in the NC subforum.. ;-)

This is what the opt._CUDA_app with VLARkill mod do.
It delete the < 0.12x AR CUDA WUs.
You see this as computation error in BOINC.
It will be reported as -6 error bad WU header.
Example of my QX6700 PC.. 'http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=1481319864'.

You have WinXP and a GTX260-216, so why not to use opt. apps? ;-)
We could help you, it's very easy to install!

Have a look in my profile, there is a 'quick instruction'.

AFAIK, because the Lunatics Installer have still the 608 entry, it will crash/trash all your DL CUDA 6.09 WUs.

So, set No New Tasks and calculate all WUs.
Or detach/attach to SETI@home. Yes - sure - this isn't very kind to your wingmen.. but later you will send faster results back home to SETI@home for your wingmen.. :-)

Also I would use nVIDIA_driver_190.x , tests has shown it's the fastest current available driver. 191.x & 195.x showed slowdown.

---------------------------------
A preview- quick instruction.. ;-)

Set in the internet settings 0.01 (or is less possible?) days WU cache.
Suspend network and computing.
Detach SETI@home in BOINC.
Start network and computing again.
Attach to SETI@home.
You will have then again all stock/original.
Set immediately No New Tasks.
If all is DLed, you close/exit BOINC complete.
Then you install the opt. project apps. Incl. the CUDA_V2.3 .dll's.

Maybe for to be sure because of well work fetch you should insert the flops in your app_info.xml . How - small look in my profile.

Then I would make a reboot and start again BOINC.
---------------------------------

Isn't it easy? ;-)

I guess if you would install on both PCs and you would let run 24/7 you could reach a whole RAC of ~ 14,000+.
