It would be fair to say that Alonso was first, Massa second and Vettel third. There are some discussions about the overtaking of Massa, who was leading the race, by Alonso on a "suggestion" by his team. But Ferraris are back and next step is the Hungarian Grand Prix.

It looks like Ferrari got a 100000 $ fine for it. Hamilton got only a drive-through when he overtook the safety car. Fair play.

Not bad, they just need to sell one car to pay that. Good to see the red in front again. I was starting to get worried.

I agree, $100,000 isn't a fine to Ferrari, it is just a fee.

Both cars of the three new teams completed the race for the first time. It was a good race. It was a race that people learned from. The race had things happen that people knew, but, still did errors. It was a good race that the driver who is at the number 1 position of the competition which is approaching a mid competition rest drove.

Schumacher is becoming dangerous. Ho should be convinced to stop and go home, like Lance Armstrong.

Crash at California 200 kills 8

Very sad. I have driven in these races. I even crashed into an RV someone had parked right beside the tract on the outside of a curve. I was not the only one. The spectators just don't think. As a driver, I was focused on the road and obsticals. I really did not see people. When you are driving full out you have a tunnel vision and are hyper focused on the track. Spectators need to be mindful of where they are placeing themselves. I have heard drivers call off road racing as a controlled crash. I agree, your car is only on the ground part of the time. Sorry people I do feel sorry but I don't blame the driver.

I don't blame the driver, however I do blame the race sponsor. Designed course. They know where spectators should not be. They allow them where they don't belong. Greed.

I have to disagree with the greed idea too. These races are not on a closed circut with fence and gates. It's the open desert. The only money the promotor gets is from the fees charged of the racers, TV rights, if any, and sponsonors. Spectators are not charged. Even the course is not that well defined. The idea is to get from check point to check point. How you get there is pretty much up to the driver - navagator team. The last race I drove wss from Las Vegas to Reno. How in the world would you fence off over 800 miles of open desert land? Plus with the multiple routes, that number would be in the thousands. I can imagine the enviornmental community screaming about fenceing off the open desert. My favorite race was the Baja 1000. Fenceing that would be impossible. Parts of the course are in river and dry lake beds. The fence would have to be replaced just before every race. Micky Thompson tried to refine the sport and have races on closed courses, wtih bleachers and charge admission. He was accused of greed and killed for it. The solution is common sense. Don't watch from a place that the vechiles momentum could reach.

You sure do. I'm still scratching my head over the drive through penalty given to Vettel after his accident that resulted in the exit of Button, and I say that as a long standing supporter of McLaren. From what I could see Vettel did not appear to do anything out of the ordinary given track conditions, perhaps he could have been a little more careful, though if all drivers did that, racing would be a lot less interesting. I hope Rubens is not penalized for his first lap accident, he has already apologized to Alonso, and, to my eyes, it looked like a typical racing incident (unlike Michael's move on Rubens at Hungary).
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...
