Message 995070 - Posted: 9 May 2010, 8:29:33 UTC - in response to Message 995052.

Spanish GP in a few hours guys.
Red Bull Renault front row. Webber on pole followed by Vettel. Second row Hamilton and Alonso. Third row Button and Schumacher.
Promises to be an interesting start.

If it's dry and based on previous results at Barcelona then Webber should win. That assumes Red Bull don't shot themselves in the foot again.

The last 9 races there have been won by the pole sitter, and for a long period there has only been one winner, who wasn't on the front row.

If anyone can loose the lead from pole, it's Webber! He is the worst starter in the field....

Today was the Spainish grand prix. It was in Europe. The race was completed and there was a winner, he was first, I think he must be happy.

Norman, you are clearly not a sports writer. Neither am I but you could have made it just a little bit more exciting. Something like this.

The first European grand prix of the season what held today in Valencia Spain. While many worried that the race would be delayed due to volcanic ash closing the airports most of the team were able return and prepare for the race. Ultimately only Lotus was unable to field two current cars having to race one of the older version of their 2010 chassis.
Ultimately the pole sitter Mark Webber driving for Red Bull won the race. His team mate Sebastian Vettel suffered nearly catastrophic break failure in the closing laps which allowed the Ferrari of Fernando Alonzo to finish ahead of him in second place. Michael Schumacher brought the newly revised Mercedes in fourth place just ahead of a frustrated Jenson Button who's faster McLaren was unable to pass the formal world champion.

That's better.

Oh and next weekend is Monaco!!!

I might have added that Alonso and Vettel both benefited from Lewis Hamilton dropping out from 2nd place in the 64th of 66 laps when a mechanical failure resulted in his left front tire deflating. That's racing ...
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

F1 in Austin Texas? Bernie, have you lost your mind? Oh right, for a second there I forgot it was about the money, not the fan base. We'll see how long this lasts? NY would have been better.

Yes, but the safety car entered after Vettel and Hamilton passed it against all rules. He was punished after 15 laps with a drive through, He should have been disqualified.

Lewis Hamilton is number one driver at the world championship division of all the drivers at the best level. Lewis Hamilton has the most number of designated attributes as a driver that confirms him as number one driver.

i think hamilton is a very good racer, but he will have not to put BP petroleum in his car or he will be hated. now i think best car to win worldchampionship
is Toyota Formula 1, because it have no brake, so a car which have no brake would never be superseded. and a car which the acceleration pedal is always
wedged (jammed ) never decrease it' s speed. but this is valid only on a circuit
because on the common road, it is dangerous!!!!!

I suppose someone has to do this..... Toyota do not have a Formula One racing team. They pulled out of Formula One, last year. I also have to tell you that, I've got about 6 gallons of BP petrol in my little 'Tomcat' and I can reciprocate all that hate that may be directed against me.....usually from Essex drivers who can't drive and should never have passed their driving test! The 'Tomcat' has no problems with BP - unlike that lame-duck, second-rate politician, Obama! (Yes, on this side of the 'pond', Obama has even fewer friends than on his own side of the 'pond' - justifiably so.) I must also disagree with anyone (so it seems), regarding Lewis Hamilton....he might be a fast driver, but can he look after a car? Jenson Button joined the McLaren team, where Lewis Hamilton already had a team around him. Relationships with race engineers can take a long time to 'gel'. Keke Rosberg, only won, one race in the season in which he became F1 champion...most of the other races he came second, but he got the car across the line, consistently.

Would you judge a racing car drivers worn shoes.

Would you judge a racing car drivers socks smell.

Would you judge a racing car drivers golf glove longevity.

Would you judge the rubber on the brake of a racing car after a race with weighing it before and after.
