Having been a professional fundraiser and personally responsible for raising over $300,000 for a non-profit organization previously, I think I am qualified to say when I think requests are being sent too often.

At some point, it's going back to the well too often. Requesting cash too many times can actually breed resentment.

I hope that doesn't happen here.

Checked my account. Nothing received yet. No messages in my spam filter.

Then there must be something wrong..

You have NO or YES there? [Message 959499] in this thread.

Ups, you are right. Something went wrong over there. I have changed my settings now back to yes. LOL

I dont know, how could that happen!

Hi all--

I know the project is desperate for cash (as the former Donations coordinator) but I received a third email stating the need for cash.

3 emails are--in my belief--total overkill.

For the record I gave recently, but choose to hide my star.

Twice was enough friends.

...but it took you longer to write & whine about the emails than it would to have simply press delete and move on.

I recived 3 E-mails too, no probs with that, but actually it would be MUCH better to re-enable PayPal-based payments and no letters at all for me ;)
Think little about international participants. We have no easy way to make donation it seems. PayPal transfers would be the best way IMO.

No problem here......I got 'em all.
Sheesh, you would think Blurf never gets spam that he has to complain about getting a few emails from his 'favorite project'...and he is embarrassed about his star, yet he posts that he contributed...WT* is that about?????

Keep them coming.

Because Blurf knows that if you see a mistake, and sit there silently, the odds of the mistake being repeated are pretty huge.

... and if you say something, it might help.

Many of the responses are assuming that he's trying to find a way to criticize. I don't think that's it at all.

I've offered (quietly) to help send out the fund-raising mail because E-Mail is a huge part of what I do.

Same kind of thing here. This is in his area of expertise.

Remember too that these messages aren't for the roughly 8,000 participants who have posted to the forums in an average year, but the ones who don't, and may not be as tolerant of "SETI-spam."

If you're reading this, you're a zealot, and wouldn't care if you got an E-Mail weekly.

I don't mind it, but I don't understand why the email says "you've been identified as one of our most active volunteers"...does this mean anything? Am I one of their most active? lol *flattered*

MSATTLER-PLEASE STOP HARRASSING ME ABOUT MY STAR!

I have explained this repeatedly and I'll do it one more time. I am not "embarrassed" about it--that is your word. You need to stop this--it is my or any other person's right to hide their star if they wish.
