I am looking to get a new GPU for my computer. I am looking in the $100 to 120 range. The two I am considering are the GT240 with 512mb DDR5 or the gt240 with 1gb of ddr3 I think as far as cards go these should rock but which would be a faster cruncher, less ram but faster or more ram and slower? It has 96 cores so does that mean it can process 96 wu's at once or will it just use them together to process faster? |

the Gddr5 is going to be faster than the gddr3 even though the 1gb card sounds nice you only need 256 mb of the card to run seti. Now if you intend to play games then you may want bigger card In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

The NVIDIA video card will process one work unit at a time, but will do so much faster than a single core of a multiprocessor cpu. It won't be 96 times as fast as a cpu, but the speed improvement is still significant. |

I am not much of a gamer but i've been crunching since 2002 so I always need to keepo upgrading LOL. I think I will go with DDR5 one or I may even splurge and get a pair :) |
