It's 6C(43F) here right now, Although I doubt It will ever be as cold as where You are Andy, But then We have no snow nearby currently, Heck the mountains near Big Bear Lake don't have much either anymore for that matter(man made for the slopes though), Still If My efforts pay off I'll be a lot closer to them than I was before. :D

Back to snow last night, after two whole days off. Just got in from shovelling about 2 inches (5 cm) out of the drive. The weather guy says it's not lake effect squalls anymore, just a front passing through. Is that supposed to make me feel better?

no, that would be New Improved Snow Lite.

Bill, I wish you'd keep your cold stuff on your side of the border. :)

Crappy weather knows no borders. The air mass over you is due to hit us by Saturday, with forecast lows of -16C (+3F). We stay reletively warm here, as long as the lakes are open. It takes quite some time to freeze a gazillion gallons of water, until that happens I'm surrounded by great big tubs of relatively warm water.

The air mass over you right now is also over our eastern prairies, away from the lakes. Here are last night's lows from out that way:

Winnipeg: -28C (-18F)
The Pas, Shilo, Brandon, and a bunch of other places: -33C (-27F)
Flin Flon: -35C (-31F)
Estevan: -38C (-36F)

Plus high winds, with wind chills forecast today of -40C to -45C (-40F to -49F). Ain't winter grand?

We had a small blizzard last night and it lasted till this afternoon. Our country used up all their salt already that otherwise lasts for a whole winter. The roads are terrible, got stuck in the snow with my car, this afternoon...aannd push...*sigh*

I found a smaller snowman, but I don't think this one really counts in a meteorological sense.
