Here's a link to a local Omaha TV station (KETV-7) that has a short slide show of images showing some of our "for the record books" winter thus far. Right now it's sunny, 3F with 30 mph NW winds, and lots 'o blowing snow. KETV Omaha - Winter Storm Images |

Here's a link to a local Omaha TV station (KETV-7) that has a short slide show of images showing some of our "for the record books" winter thus far. Weather like that was always good for a few extra bucks when I was younger. A 4*4 and a few good chains and we made enough cash pulling cars out of the snow for the weekend beer and entertainment. Today Im just glad to be home and off the roads when it gets like that. Im enjoying some sunshine for the first time this year without any winds to speak of so all our fluffy "flour like" snow is starting to get a crust on it and tighten up which will help to prevent what we have from drifting. Unfortunately it will provide a slick surface for any more snow we get to blow right across and fall into our clean driveways! Today Im just glad to be home and off the roads when it gets like that. Lord, ain't that the truth? My first 4x4 was a '74 Chevy I got new my junior year in high school. Since then I've had 4 other trucks, (3 Chevys and now a Dodge) all 4x4's. Most winters around here the extra traction is over-kill, but a winter like this, it's pretty near a necessity. On more than one occasion we set out to make a mint but ended up being good Samaritans instead. I can honestly say that over the years the good ol' 4x4's haven't kept me out of the ditch, but they have gotten me out of the ditch a time or three. :) 15:00 CST KOFF NE Temperature: 3 °F (-16 °C) Humidity: 67 % Wind Speed: NW 20 G 29 MPH Barometer: 30.38" (1031.4 mb) Dewpoint: -5 °F (-21 °C) Wind Chill: -18 °F (-28 °C) Visibility: 5.00 mi. |

This is a couple years old, but Andy's sat image reminded me of a vapor map that either showed an ominous presence, or perhaps a more religious one, approaching the Northwest US. ![]() |

Great satellite picture here showing the extent of the icy weather over the normally temperate UK. WOW! Even Canada has a few green spots out on the Left Coast this time of year. Good luck Andy, and everybody else there. ![]() ![]() |

Great satellite picture here showing the extent of the icy weather over the normally temperate UK. Perhaps snow is green in Ireland. They seem to be very fond of that colour. ![]() ![]() |

Back to snow last night, after two whole days off. Just got in from shovelling about 2 inches (5 cm) out of the drive. The weather guy says it's not lake effect squalls anymore, just a front passing through. Is that supposed to make me feel better?
