Wow! That would cripple us, really it would!

Just reading the News reports from around the UK this morning. It's not good here. Coldest weather for years & years is causing problems with gas & power supplies. Reports of buildings suffering structural failures because of the weight of ice & snow in the North of the UK. We've had temps as low as -7.5C (-5C last night) in what is normally a frost free coastal resort, so lots of people being caught out by frozen/burst pipes etc.

Snow expected today - very rare for here, so any amount of snow will cause disruption.

Another inch of snow last night, another inch or four forcast by the end of today. Weather alert downgraded from "snow squall warning" (means its snowing like crazy right now) to "snow squall alert" (meaning it will probably snow like crazy real soon). Just west of here has been averaging 15 cm (6 inches) every 12 hours since Saturday, this should continue for the rest of the week. Roads closed, schools closed, etc. But the REALLY bad weather has been on our east coast. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/new-brunswick/story/2010/01/04/storm-maritimes.html

Observed at: London Int'l Airport
Date: 8:00 AM EST Tuesday 5 January 2010

Tendency: rising
Visibility: 16 km

Temperature: -8.9°C
Dewpoint: -10.5°C

Ya the Maritimes got it bad. My thoughts go out to everyone there. And to you to Andy. Hope things warm up for ya!

I hope we dont get the winds or all my shovelling will be right back in the driveway. We got another 10+ cm last night and the forecast is for 7 more days of squalls, flurries, snow ... however you want to put it. Living between an escarpment and a lake is like living inside a cloud! I hope the bay freezes over soon as Im running out of room to put the stuff!

A New Perspective
