Also : SJ I lost track of your adventures in realestate. Genuinely interested in how your sale went/is going. Could you point me towards a thread where your housing tribulations have been recounted ?

No idea where It went, Suffice It to say It's in the deep freeze(no sale so far, not even a nibble, the backlog of houses in Barstow CA are selling, So eventually My place should sell) as is the weather almost(which is at 44F/7C).

It's about 57 F here in Anaheim California but expecting rain tomorrow. SJ, the house thread has worked it's way back to the 4th page.

11.5 inches (29cm) of new snow fell today here in New Hampshire. I think it was the same system that hit Bill Walker earlier. This pretty much assures that we'll have a white Christmas.

Sorry, but we are expecting even more snow tonight and tomorrow. You should see it by Friday. Sigh.

Thanks for the update on the housing situation SJ. Hang in there.

As for the doomsday weather report I posted earlier the 5 PM forecast just restates the previous bulletin. The house is currently being rocked by 80-100 kph gusts and we can barely see the neighbour's porch lights through the snow. Good times :).

The winter storm has turned on the Lake Huron/Georgian Bay Snow machines!

"Snow Squall Warning for Wasaga Beach giving 15 to 25 cm today"

Edit: The Weather Network just said these squalls could last 2 or 3 days and leave up to a meter of snow in areas. Having visions of the Snow Groomers clearing the roads so the highway plows can get through to finish the job like they did years ago in a storm that closed everything including Blue Mountains Ski hills.

This pretty much assures that we'll have a white Christmas.

It will be good for the ski resorts in Central ON but personally I would prefer a GREEN Christmas!

Bah Humbug!

The east shore of Lake Huron, from Goderich up to Tobermory and across to Collingwood is world renowned for heavy wet snow. Aerospace and equipment manufacturers from around the world test their products there. I did it three times back in the 1990s for a German company, and it looks like I might be back there in January or February next year for another European firm. There is no snow like Tobermory snow.

Bill what kind of Equipment are you testing? Wind Turbine Technology?

Snow Squalls are such an unpredictible thing. Left home this morning (Beaver Valley) where it was snowing and blowing like crazy. I had 6 - 8 inches of new snow in my driveway overnight. Drove through Collingwood where it was calm and clear. Got to the west end of Wasaga Beach and was back into the squalls and then drove out of it at the east end of the Beach where I work and here we had no new snow since I left yesterday afternoon! Driving distance for the whole trip is 45 km. (37 K as the crow flies) Im currently seeing Blue Skies and sunshine .... for now anyway.

Rick; a range of stuff - helicopters, light aircraft, forestry machines, construction machines and ag machines. Anything for a buck ;).

We get the tail end of the lake effect squalls here in London, and they can be incredibly local. I've left my house in west London under clear skies, no snow on the ground, and driven through terrible snow storms on the 401 before breaking out into the sun and green fields again at Woodstock, about 65 klicks away.

When my wife worked for the Thames Valley School Board, they covered a fairly large area, including London and several surrounding rural townships. They would call a "snow day" when they couldn't get into their headquarters building in downtown London, even when we had blue skies and no snow out here in the 'burbs.

Snow here is picking up now, but from the radar it looks like Parry Sound and area is getting a heavy hit. Check out their radar. http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/radar/index_e.html?id=WKR

O Crap dont get me started on snow days.

Heres a Cool Radar Site I like to use to see whats coming at us.

National Mosaic

It doesnt quite get the details of my area but its an interesting view of what can be headed our way when these "Colorado Lows" develop like this system that just past us.

Near Freezing?!?!?! That's terrible. I'll play you a sad song on my violin, right after I chip it out of the ice ;).

And before anybody else in southern Ontario chimes in about their lousy weather, here's what's happening today at Canada's most northerly defence base, where the sun set a few weeks ago, and will come up in a few more:
