Geez Guys! I'm looking through all your folks weather and I'm seeing single digit wind speeds and perhaps the odd double digit in the 20's or 30's!
Looks like every single one of you gets off lightly!

In Wellington, New Zealand, we often (twice, if not more, weekly) daily average speeds of 80-100kph plus. With 120kph squalls every few weeks!

50kph is a common here.

Well, it's peeing down rain here now, on top of last night's snow. I assume it must be snowing like mad where you are.

The east shore of Lake Huron, from Goderich up to Tobermory and across to Collingwood is world renowned for heavy wet snow. Aerospace and equipment manufacturers from around the world test their products there. I did it three times back in the 1990s for a German company, and it looks like I might be back there in January or February next year for another European firm. There is no snow like Tobermory snow.

Maybe It's not 31.2°F / -0.4°C in Yermo right now, But considering how leaky this house is, Keeping this place warm is going to cost Me some, Right now It's 46°F / 8.0°C outside and I can feel It through the floor, Only the area where the duct is at feels even remotely warm.

I feel your pain - and the size of your heating bills. We're not built for the cold weather in this part of the UK either. Frost is rare here, so when the temps do dip below freezing my heating bills go through the roof! Fuel costs sooo much more here than over there too, it's crippling!

So, on the subject of weather. From tomorrow onwards the temperatures here are forecast to start a steady decline, before going into free fall and bringing the freezing weather that we don't usually get in this area!

Yeah, the storm that hit here is hitting the rest of the country, Flagstaff AZ has 20" of snow, winds and snow elsewhere too. Soon I expect some mammoths will come back from extinction, They'd love the snow. ;) Of course It would be nice If I wasn't feeling bad(sweating and pain in My legs).

11.5 inches (29cm) of new snow fell today here in New Hampshire. I think it was the same system that hit Bill Walker earlier. This pretty much assures that we'll have a white Christmas.

Thanks for the update on the housing situation SJ. Hang in there.

As for the doomsday weather report I posted earlier the 5 PM forecast just restates the previous bulletin. The house is currently being rocked by 80-100 kph gusts and we can barely see the neighbour's porch lights through the snow. Good times :).

The winter storm has turned on the Lake Huron/Georgian Bay Snow machines!

"Snow Squall Warning for Wasaga Beach giving 15 to 25 cm today"

Edit: The Weather Network just said these squalls could last 2 or 3 days and leave up to a meter of snow in areas. Having visions of the Snow Groomers clearing the roads so the highway plows can get through to finish the job like they did years ago in a storm that closed everything including Blue Mountains Ski hills.

This pretty much assures that we'll have a white Christmas.

It will be good for the ski resorts in Central ON but personally I would prefer a GREEN Christmas!

Bah Humbug!

Snow Squalls are such an unpredictible thing. Left home this morning (Beaver Valley) where it was snowing and blowing like crazy. I had 6 - 8 inches of new snow in my driveway overnight. Drove through Collingwood where it was calm and clear. Got to the west end of Wasaga Beach and was back into the squalls and then drove out of it at the east end of the Beach where I work and here we had no new snow since I left yesterday afternoon! Driving distance for the whole trip is 45 km. (37 K as the crow flies) Im currently seeing Blue Skies and sunshine .... for now anyway.
