I'm a little surprised we haven't heard from Matt yet but it has been posted in the NC that the problem has been fixed so if you did any of the hosts file tricks you might want to undo them.

Leave the boy alone, he works as hard as they come and so deserves a few days off every now and then. My only hope is that he's not worn himself out.

Me thinks there is some hot air. Otherwise don't let the door hit you on the way out.

So many people, so much impatience. It's almost as if they're day traders who claim to be losing hundreds of thousands of dollars per minute that their internet connection is down.

RELAX, people! The data will still be there waiting to processed....

*shakes head*

On a different note, can someone FIX the Science status page? The number of spikes in the last 24 hours has read "1,545,993" for a month now, NTM that the overflow rate has stuck at 5.3% for the same period!...

In fact, 'they' have 'promised' that the servers would be down at least 4 hours a week (Tuesday maintenance), plus the post Tuesday multiple hour catch up rush hour. But these weekend unplanned (and for this weekend unexplained) outages do tend to kick up some messaging dust.

They are having their stuff straight. They've never promised that we always would get new WU's, or that the servers should be up 24/7/365

Well, they are not "unexplained". Have you taken a look at the front page? They're doing some database reconfigurations. Strange though that they do it on a Sunday. Have they completely gone crazy now, not taking anymore time off?

I don't know what is wrong, but all I get are bad files. They are being downloaded, the moment they are being processed they are ready?
After contacting the server they give the message that the output file is missing.
Am I the only one experiencing this?

I see you are getting this message in your stderr...
stderr out

<core_client_version>6.4.5</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
process exited with code 2 (0x2, -254)
</message>
<stderr_txt>
run-detectors: unable to find an interpreter for
../../projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/AK_v8_win_SSE3.exe

</stderr_txt>

I would suggest you ask in the Questions and answers section of the message boards under the linux section for help with that. You have a better chance of finding someone that knows linux there.

Since you're running Linux, why did you install a Windows optimized application?
If you did so under WinE, are you running BOINC under WinE now?

The fact that you can't even spell "BOINC" shows a certain level of understanding right off the bat.

BOINC is designed to tolerate outages, and to run at loading levels not seen in other internet-based arenas.

If Amazon.com is down for ten minutes, they could lose tens, or even hundreds of thousands of dollars.

If SETI@Home is down, the only real "damage" is a few snarky comments.

The BOINC software handles this just fine, thank you.

Thanks for pointing out a big mistake on my side. When I saw the AK Win line I knew what was wrong :(

Hehehe, I think I have not felt that blond in a long time. I should have known when I downloaded a .ZIP instead of a .TAR archive.
Stupid!
